Extended Warranties and Rod Bearings

Is it just me or does it seem these are the two most discussed topics on this forum lately. My extended BMW platinum plan is expiring at the end of the month (coincidently on my b-day - what a gift right), and reading this forum lately one can't help but wonder how many S65's have been really impacted by bad bearings? Does anyone know the %? It has be under 2-3% of cars, if that.

I am willing to take the risk, so I am not getting an extended warranty. Car already had one when I purchased it used. Whatever happens happens.

The biggest ticket items for the car rod bearings, throttle actuators and ac evap/cond (i believe) equaled about what I would pay for a extended warranty.

With that said If I never experience any of those issues money saved. I'd rather just save monthly into an account called ooh shit m3 for those potential situations.

I don't dd my car though so that helps

How much do these extended warranties cost ? Can you just get it from anywhere else other than the dealership ?

It's a concern b/c most of us who did standard American delivery and had our engines broken in by Pkilla617 redlining them right off the boat at customs.

Is yours shukkurr orange on cocaine white? B/c that's top of the line right there!
