Extended Warranty - Went with Wanted Auto Protect

Like many of you, I researched the extended warranties for months. As my factory warranty expires in November, and I intend to keep the car for 3-5 years, I decided I need an extended warranty.

After pestering Colin from Wanted Auto Protect for 8 months, I pulled the trigger and now have 5 year 100k miles. I researched the BMW factory extended, EasyCare, Assurant (which does not cover CA), USAA (which I do not qualify for) and a few more.

What sold me on Wanted was the member Disturbed's thorough posts on Wanted, and Colin's patience with all my questions.

I think that no extended warranty is perfect, but for me Wanted was damn close. I'll let everyone know once I file a claim.

I went with EasyCare and just had to file my first claim after 1.5 years of having the extended warranty.

It was approved the same day and repair costs were $2800. I brought my car in for throttle actuator failure in bank 2, but they also found a slow drip leak in my transmission selector shaft seal. My SA got both approved and fixed within two days of me bringing it in.

A+ for EasyCare.

Which tier coverage do you have? I have easy care too, and I don't think my primary care covers the throttle actuator.

I have the TotalCare package. It covers everything including wheels and tires (without deductible).

A good friend of mine that works at the dealer recommended that I get TotalCare because it covers everything in the car and there is no loop hole if something obscure happens to break. Being that a lot of electronics and parts on the M3 are not standard in all cars, this could be a lot of things that aren't covered with standard power train.

That being said, the warranty has paid for itself already. I am covered until 10/2017 or 75k miles and I am thinking of extending the coverage even further if I have the car still.

Based on the other thread / reviews on this forum, Wanted seems decent but doesn't cover certain things such as the Throttle Actuators.

My credit union told me Easy Care only offers powertrain coverage on the M3 ?

Cool, that's what I thought. I was just curious. Planning on pulling my actuators and replacing them with odometer gears so they don't go. I have my primary care solely if the engine goes or I need a new evaporator. Those are two things I don't want to cover lol.

Maybe that's all your credit union offers? I purchased mine at the BMW dealer.

EasyCare was my number 2 choice, but they were so much more expensive than Wanted. Yes, Wanted does not cover the Throttle Body, but for me the price of Wanted + paying out of pocket for the Throttle Bodies was less than EasyCare.

Maybe you got an awesome deal? My quotes (from an Audi dealer) were higher than BMW factory!

I got a spectacular deal on it only because I got it at cost through my friend at the dealer.

$1994 for 3 years or 75,000 miles from when my factory warranty ended.

Would any co. warranty one of our cars with 88K miles on it? Anyone have experience with a high mileage warranty? I just want something to cover me if rod bearings decide to let go. I don't much care about anything else.
