Pick the highest octane that's above 91

Top tier gas and 91 octane or above is recommended as mentioned previously. Here in CA I'm limited to 91, it is what it is.

Chevron is what I use, I'm sure others have their favorites. Used to use Shell in my previous car...

I've recently switched to 93 from Quiktrip and car seems to idle and drive slightly better, previously I was using Shell gas only.

On my 911 I can tell a difference in sound when using 95.5 mixed half and half with 91, compared to put 91. The sound is almost smoother, like comparing equal length headers with unequal length headers -but not as extreme. But driving all the way to a race gas station to do that can become really tiring really fast, especially when we are not boosted so we don't get all the benefits.

I have not tried using race gas on the m3. Anyone tell any differences to see if it's worth it?
SO knows to only use Shell, Chevron or Mobil when she fills up. No Costco or 76 even though they say top tier, but she still plays pranks on me saying they ran out of premium or she accidentally got 87 or wanted to try the new flex fuel to see my reaction.

It's also an unspoken rule to wait after another high end car since they must have used premium fuel. I hate the feeling of getting that little bit of 87 still in the fuel lines.

This should be a spoken rule. Very few people think about this. +1000.

I only use BP ethanol free 91 in my car and it runs great!

In Canada 91 is pretty much the highest we get, which is premium. Except for PetroCanada has a 93 one as well. But since I don't regularly fill from there, it's always the 91.
