Unhappy Attacked by a tree!

Well - in line with most of my luck this month, was parked in the street due to ongoing construction on house (flood renovations) and a rotten limb fell 30 ft to the ground right beside my car - unfortunately one piece was on target and a serious dent in the hood is the result. Could have ben much worse I guess but when you total repair for the aluminum hood + reapplying Xpel to hood + fender (paint match etc) and top it off with CQuratz re-application we are looking north of $2.5K!!

Luckily for me I guess (not so much for my neighbor) the tree was on my neighbor's property and their homeowner's should cover it (hoping they play nice - we'll see!)

Appreciated! Hopefully no cost to me to get this repaired at the BMW Dealer's Body Shop and it should be a 'fairly' straight forward process.

Yes amazingly just the hood - there was a slight scratch on the light cover but that also had Xpel protection and it does not appear to have penetrated through the clear-bra. Dead lucky in some respects as it appears as though one piece may have broken off in flight and augered that spot on the hood and bounced off!

Paintless dent repair?

They can do all sorts of complex dents now and this would avoid repaint.

Well the guy at the BMW Body Shop seemed to think it was way beyond that and the access issues on the underside due to the double wall makes this likely to be impossible - agree that I wish that was an option!

I do not trust the body shop guys.

Last month I had a dent on a body line and they wanted to take everything apart and repaint almost the whole side of my car. I found a PDR guy who said he could do it. He spent 4 hours on it and it is impossible to tell where it was. So happy.

Interesting - it was definitely my first thought and I should look into it more - thx!

Anyone in the Houston area know of a pro outfit here that could handle this?

EDIT: Guess I am going to have Dent Dogs come out to look at it - seem to service a no. of Merc dealerships etc., have BBB A+ etc. etc. - hopefully as good as they seem!

Well Dent Dogs say that it is not repairable using their methods as too close to the edge of the hood so guess I am destined to have it repaired/repainted the old fashioned way - Bummer!

If that was in California, the tree branch would have been the size of a pencil. Everything's bigger in Texas

I'm just glad the blasted limb didn't land on the car proper, like across the roof!! These Live Oaks take no prisoners

Wasn't aware that the neighbor's home owners would need to cover this. A tree is an Act of God which would make it your car insurance claim, unless the entire tree was dead. In this case the homeowner would be cited as negligent. His insurance still wouldn't cover, he'd need to pay out of pocket, then get the tree removed.

From what I understand, the fact that the limb was rotten is key - to the point that I plan on holding it to ensure the adjustor sees the evidence! Still pending review by his adjustor however so will wait and see.
