restrictive ecu tune a good idea?

I have received emails from 3 tuners who can tune my car and not remove the Rev limiter or top speed. It would just be fuel, timing and boost pressure. I would assume this would throw less red flags at the dealer. Just guessing it's the Rev and top speed files that alert bmw.

We've had local techs do their standard routine checks and they could not find any tunes or a presence of one. I think if they have to dig harder and look at the parameters then it can be found with or without changing the limiter.

Tuning is tuning with or without changing the rev/speed limiter. Need to find yourself some local BMW techs that will take care of you.

I should try and meet some mod friendly techs. I've met a few techs at cars and coffee but they have all told me any mods are detectable. Only one was a dinan fan.

The techs you met who were not fans of the Dinan...did they give you reasons why they didn't like it?

They didn't like the price for a piggy back. A few have had problems after install. Everyone has their favorites.

Interesting. I wouldn't discount it without trying it out. There's a 3 day return policy if not happy...and the piece of mind goes a long way too.

I'll have dyno results on my set up this Friday - my car is very strong and it's a terrific tune. If you were in the Houston area I'd let you drive it to see for yourself.

I drove Lerxst M5 and I enjoyed how well the Dinan piggy responded and the power output. If warranty was a concern this would be the route to go.

I was trying to find a tuned car in denver to ride in but no luck. I'm in Atlanta for 6 days and might see if a. Shop has a car with a piggyback or tune installed

the additional boost would be the biggest red flag, if the car had a major failure they would dig to see why. but to this point our cars are stout and respond well to mods

This is nuts. If this is the route you want to go, get a piggy.

Since it's not a 'flash of the ECU' tune, it's technically a piggy-back.

My car did all right on the dyno yesterday with just the Dinan and intake.
