Just great - large screw in tire, but its fixed now...

I have never purchased a dealer add-on insurance until this car…I got the tire and wheel insurance when I picked up my F80 about a year ago - said no to everything else. Knew the tires and wheels were worth a lot and I figured it might be worth it. This is obviously my first claim. Deductible is only $50, so that is good, b/c the tire with mounting and balancing was $310. Hopefully I won't have to use the insurance again, but it may pay for itself if I get a few more of these…

Found the screw in the tire yesterday…I thought it was just the head initially with a short screw. But as I started to remove it, I could hear air leaking, so I put it back in. Held overnight with no loss of pressure. Drove cautiously to the dealer this morning. Too close to the sidewall for a patch. They had to get the tire from another dealer that is about 80 miles away, but at least there was a PSS around and it didn't have to be ordered. I only have 8K miles on the car, so I will worry about matching the tread on the fronts when the right one starts to wear a little more.

I actually turned that down thinking that it was the one that they usually offered NOT from BMW, but this looks like a BMW sponsored policy from BMW, I probably would have done it now

Insurers play the odds that you'll buy it and not need it.

I play the odds that I won't need so I don't buy it.
