Bumper scratched during painted reflector install

Long story short: had a shop install painted reflectors in the rear and they chipped and scraped around the edges. Car was delivered on October 3 - has 60 miles on it. Should I have the shop pay for a new bumper and paint? How much would this cost being done at BMW? Its Mineral White.

Garage List
Yes!!

My rear bumper was just painted in YMB. Paint work was about $800 at a BMW dealer. I wouldn't think you would need the bumper fully replaced, just painted.

Absolutely make them pay to have the bumper repaired. You clearly didn't bring it to them damaged. I would be a little concerned with the MW not matching the rest of the car though.

Like a few others have been told lately: That shop owes you a new car. That one is ruined forever and there's no way it'll ever be perfect again. You will also need to be compensated for the emotional damages, not to mention the time you have invested.

Need pics to assess the damage.

If there is no damage to the bumper, it's an easy fix for a bodyshop. Just sand bumper down with a fine grit with care not to break clear coat (you will break clear coat on the damaged area). Blend color on area of paint damage. Clear coat entire bumper. Let dry. Color sand and buff. Good as new. The work should only cost a couple hundred dollars.

A word of advice, I wouldn't repaint a mineral white body part unless absolutely necessary. Mineral white is infamous for its ability to never be properly matched.

Try to have it touched up if possible, but avoid re-spraying the bumper until a last resort.

Exact reason I went with AW. OP, might be easier and turn out better to purchase a touch-up pen and try your best to hide the scratches (chips). Repainting MW could be a nightmare to get it to match perfect again.
