2 Maintenance questions
I have been meaning to make a post about this for a while now but keep forgetting. They aren't major issues with my car but just wondering
1. Does anyone else have their engine fan remain on for a few minutes even after the car engine is turned off and the car is locked? My engine fan or at least what sounds like a fan at the front of my car remains on sometimes. 2. This might effect alpine white car owners only (visible mostly on white cars), I have had the car for about 9 months now and every wash I notice there are more and more little black dots over the paint work which my wash mit cannot remove. Neither can a drying towel and I have also tried using my finger nail too nothing removes them easily. Is this something i'll need to clay bar? Any advice here? Thanks! |

To get the little debris out of the paint, you need to do paint correction which includes clay barring. It's a good idea to treat it afterwards with a wax or coating of sorts. You will see less of those embedded debris after that.

Try clay bar first and clear coat protectant from Wolfgang after shampoo. This makes debris removal easier on lighter colors...I have MWM, and this has worked in the past for me.
Fan noise is normal after exuberant driving.

Thanks for the help everyone. I never actually realized these little black specs on my previous cars (Silver, navy) so I guess even white cars have their little problems.
I might have to set a time during Christmas to clean, clay bar, wax, polish the car. Either that or just pay someone to detail it for me :P It's hard work doing an entire car! |

Op.. Do the following
Wash car. Buy carpro's Iron X... Spray over entire ext paint.. Let sit for about 3 min. Heavy rinse. Light quick wash again. Claybar paint. Meguiars or mothers clay bar kit will be fine for you. Ipa wipe down Then use a sealant, wax or paint coating for protection. Sit back and admire your clean, smooth and protected paint!

As others have mentioned, it basically looks like fallout or tar. In which case, iron-x (or similar type thing) should get a lot of it out. Clay bar will do the rest. Tar removers will also work if it's tar; I use Tarminator.
AND, if you're gonna go through the trouble of a full decon, might as well do the last step and protect (wax, sealant, coating, etc). |

And if the above doesn't remove the spots, then I would ask if you're parking next to mulch beds. There is a little known thing called artillery fungus. It's a royal PITA to remove. None of the above recommendations are likely to work and you'll need to scrape it off with a plastic blade. But again, that would be a diagnosis of last resort if none of the above steps resolves the issue.
