TMPS system longevity
My car has passed the 7 year mark and I was told that one on my sensors was getting weak. How long should these last? I know I can buy new ones but would want to wait until need to replace all 4 tires to do it.
I have not priced them either. I'm hoping they are too expensive.

The dealer (or someone with ISTA software) can read out the estimated months remaining on the batteries. Its probably only worth replacing them all at once (since they are the same age) when you get new tires. Otherwise youll pay to mount/unmount for no real reason. You might just have to check the pressures often and ignore the warning light for a bit. Or if you need tires now just replace them now if they are showing only a few months remaining.
PS to say I'm also on an original 2008 set myself. |

Thanks guys for the info. That's a good idea to have them checked to see how many more months are remaining. I do have a second set on my winter wheels.. but they are the same age also..

If you need to buy them, don't buy from the dealer. My dealer wanted $149.99 each last year. Found them at getbmwparts.com for $69.68 each.
