Modesta Treated F80 M3 (Tanzanite Blue)

I picked up this M3 in Munich, had my fun for two weeks and had it shipped home. A week after re-delivery, I dropped it off at Detailers Domain to have a Modesta (BC04?) coating applied to make care and maintenance a little easier.

As usual, Phil and the crew his crew did a fantastic job!! Many thanks to them for their outstanding work! They popped out two dings on the hood, courtesy of the Autostrada. They polished out the holograms left by the dealership detailer. They weren't too bad, but they were there. Unfortunately I thought it was better to let the dealer clean it up so I could ensure no further damage was incurred during it's trip home. They finished it off with the Modesta coating. Put your sunglasses on...here are the results!

Outdoors in full sun this color (Tanzanite Blue) takes on a brighter more vivid hue and the metallic flake becomes more pronounced.

They asked me to wait a few weeks before the first wash, to let it continue curing. They said the shine might deepen a bit. I'm already ecstatic. I had a friend drive it an hour and a half home while I tailed him. Caught tons of people flanking his quarter panel and ogling the car!

It was bound to happen, I was just bitter that they disallowed my 3 letter screen name, so once I got over it, I appended the M3.

Did they do any paint correction (sanded out orange peel) before applying Modesta (aside from the body corrections you mentioned)? Or is it that shiny just because of the treatment?? Can I ask what you paid to have that done? It looks amazing!

They did a light correction because the dealer left holograms from the rotary they used to prep the car. No wet sanding, the peel is still there if you look at the full size pics (forum resizes them). They also cleaned and treated the interior and treated the wheels with Modesta. If you want to see the full size pic, right click, grab the URL, open it in another window and change the "L" at the end of the URL string to "O" (large to original). The Modesta adds a little more shine to the factory paint, but I would have to A-B two test panels to really go into any depth. I'm thrilled with the job they did.

I believe Modesta controls the price on the coating. $1500. There are less expensive alternatives and Modesta is a relative unknown to me. But the way I see it, I paid for DD's time and expertise and I trust they use a quality product. Usually I would DIY, but now I can enjoy it rather than slaving over it.

I keep telling myself Tanzanite is too dark and boring but then I see this. Amazeballs.

Awesome, Raj. The service Phil provides is the only thing that makes me wish that I lived in Jersey. She looks very shiny indeed!

@ pheerix, I agree. It looks rather hum drum until the sun hits it. If I lived in Seattle, I might have had to get one of the brighter colors!

@ Robert...LOL! Come back out here and I'll take you out for the best Neopolitan style pizza I've found shy of Garmish and Northern Italy! That will make a grand total of TWO reasons! How many more do you require?

They were dings, not dents. It's considered normal wear and tear and excluded. BMW no longer fixes curbed wheels either.

great looking car! DD does great work. I'll be back in there in a month for a re-application of Modesta BC-05 on the panels of my car that just had body work.
