What kind of 'microfiber' is the best?
Hello guys,
I noticed recently as I was drying my car with a microfiber towel I bought from target (that I bought like literally less than 2 weeks ago and this is only it's second use after 1 wash?) that it scratched a little bit of my paint, its a very very thin line that you can only see if you're on both knees and staring directly at it for more than 5 seconds but its still irritating.. That being said, what kind of microfiber towels do you guys use? where do you get them? and how do you maintain them? Thanks for reading |

Here are 2 good videos talking about microfibers.
Depending on what you are going to use it for, there are different types. the first video goes into the properties that make various microfibers while the second (made by a fellow member here) goes over a few particular good microfibers and some places to get them. He starts talking about them at 1:13 |

I use Adams and Chemical guys microfiber towels. They're the best I've used. I use the cheap ones from Costco for the interior.

Ahh I see, I feel all cheap now for buying target microfiber towels lol. Thank you all for the input I'll be sure to buy some quality towels now and maintain it as y'all described
Ps what about something to treat very minor scratch that I got from my towel? it's really a really thin straight line you can't even feel it with your finger but I know its there... Last edited by VDBimmer; 07-13-2015 at 01:30 AM.. |

These^ I use Adams brand. They work very well. Adams has other polishes and detailing products that would get that scratch out also.
Also, the microfiber towel most likely didn't scratch your car, dirt or a rock did, that the microfiber picked up. Id be careful how you wash your car, and make sure you get all the tiny rocks out from all the cracks and crevices. Always 2 bucket method. Use a lot of soap and suds will help, and using a detailing spray when car is wet while you dry can be a good idea as well. Last edited by ///bproden; 07-13-2015 at 09:44 AM.. |

l like Griot's. Have used them for a while and they stay in great condition and clean well. I wash them by themselves and damp dry. The 8 I use are about 5 years old and are as good as mew

I use the costco yellow microfiber towels for the exterior and general interior clean up, and eye glasses cloth for the iDrive screen and carbon fiber trim pieces

Yes! I am starting to think that might be what happened actually, the microfiber tangles onto anything small and grips it, it might have caught onto something and I didnt notice as I was wiping and therefore left the little line. I am assuming this because the part that has the line is on the lower part of the car so I am assuming the microfiber dragged from me to the floor because I had to reach kind of down and might have tangled something solid |
