Is there such thing as too much service history on Carfax?

I found an E92 near by with the right color/price (wrong transmission but I need a new car right away).

Carfax says one owner and almost 70k miles. I looked at the Carfax, and it seems like there was a stint of many servicing done at the local BMW dealership. Could this possibly mean that it's full of problems? Obviously, it's just a guess at this point, but looking for thoughts. Thanks.

Size: 23.3 KBIt would make me ask for the service history thats for sure. Car washes show as WASHED/DETAILED on my previous car fax reports.

This could be all of the oil changes and maybe a couple minor service requests? That mileage would suggest 20+ oil changes.

Call any BMW dealer and ask them what the service history is. They can pull it up with the VIN.

Will they pull this for me even if I don't own the car...

Yes. I did this before I bought my car.

Actually they're likely to refuse - at least initially, before tips, "tips", etc. - as it may be considered as proprietary/PII.

I straight up called my local dealer and told them I was looking at purchasing a car out of state and was wondering if they could pull the the service history for me. They did so without giving me any trouble or requesting any "tips." If a dealer asked for money to show me service history, I would never return to that shady ass dealer. You could even call the dealer listed on that Carfax report and tell them it's a car they've worked on.

There are also some folks on this forum who have access to service records. I think Mike Benvo is one of them.

Agreed. I've never had any issues getting records from dealerships. There are not HIPPA laws for cars, lol.

I'd check to see what was being done on those dealership visits. I've seen cars that have constant problems and the person keeps bringing it back.

That would be the kind of car I'd avoid. If it was giving the previous owner issues - you'll probably get those issues too.

I'm looking at an X5 50i with a similar carfax, though not quite that extensive. Makes me think it's sickly, for lack of a better word, and Im scared to buy it.

I've actually called the original dealership and many others, even ones out of state. They won't let me get the information, many of them due to this "privacy concern", but two of them gave me some rough info. I've only had 2 (one not even from this state) tell me some few major points from those histories. And then I've had a friend of a friend actually check on one of these histories, and it was much worse. Enough to where I won't ever buy the vehicle.

As we close this post out remember that a serious buyer would likely have no issue getting the current owner to render the service history as a precondition to purchasing the car. I had my seller take his car to the local dealership and I paid 200 for a PPP which included the service history. It was a really important step to me before dropping that kind of cash on a used car.
