C&D ATS-V Instrumented Test
Very nice numbers. Knew this car was going to be good.
Great package, if you can ignore the interior. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...an-test-review

So basically the numbers are good, but the rest of the experience sucks (fit/finish, ergonomics, space, UI, MPG, etc.)
On top of that it's a Cadillac. Yea, good luck with that...

122 mph trap is no laughing matter
seems like a good performer and responsive chassis. If you've ever tried the CUE system, don't buy a gun, you'll end up shooting the car or yourself in the face |

as nice as this car is numbers wise, I don't think it will sell - the regular models are not selling and this is the halo car- too bad, it's a pretty damn good car.
Cadillac will probably going to offer 10k off the price in a year, which will likewise hurt resale values... Regular ATS models were 3-4k off sticker last time i checked.

Very impressive numbers and review from a purely driving point of view - the track numbers are going to be very interesting...
It's about time Caddy built a worthy competitor (at least from a driving performance standpoint). M Division is just going to have to make the next generation that much better!! |

Flawed Review I smell bulls*it
Either those numbers are wrong 3800 lbs and a 122mph trap @ 12.1 with 469hp or that ATS has a tweaked aka juiced way underrated motor in this review.. Something is fishy ... Notice the ATS V coupe review, granted it had an 6speed stick weighed 30lbs less and trap the 1/4 miles 12.6 @ 115 MPH, Motor trend 12.3 @ 114..Now there is the disclaimer that the ground wasn't level, however 7-8mph trap speed increase with a .3 decrease in time? Food for thought the 2015 C7 Vette Convertible w/ 8 speed Z51.. 3506 lbs, 460hp, traps at 119mph at 12 flat.. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...pe-test-review http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._v_first_test/ http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...tomatic-review Last edited by DocWeatherington; 06-19-2015 at 08:42 PM.. |

Saw that too. Car & Driver always has tests that are all over the place. I'm betting its heavier and slower. But the pictures did conclusively determine that it is one ugly car.

I am glad someone is calling them out. They seem to have performance and chassis nailed, best in the class.
Now they just need to poor a little more effort and money into the interior/styling. Just go to same the Benz/BMW material/parts sources and get it done. C&D: Quote:

I will wait to see what other sources get with proper testing, to compare. Motor Trend will have a M3 vs C63 vs ATS-V comparo shortly. So we will get data from same day/conditions. |

I've driven the ATS-V. The steering and handling is absolutely phenomenal. It made me hate my BMW's for a couple weeks until the memory faded a bit. The engine didn't seem that special. I'm surprised at those acceleration numbers, I'd much rather have my S55. As C&D says, it has a more linear power delivery than the torque-monster Germans. Some here might prefer that.
This car has the chassis, supposedly the C63 has the engine, but its shaping up like the M3 is going to have the best all around package for a sports sedan again, although if I was going to give my car for another, it would be the ATS. I'll deal with the interior to get that cars steering.

I suspect the ATS-V will be an excellent driving car, that is what the reviews say. I am not a fan of the interior, lots of cheap plastic and reused GM parts and the CUE system is terrible. I also don't trust the depreciation of Cadillac cars (Escalade is a different story). The ATS is selling terribly and has been discounted tremendously. The ATS-V will have some fans and will probably be a hot commodity for a few months and then who knows what will happen. Cadillac simply is not as appealing as BMW and therefore there are simply too many unknowns. It may be at the ATS-V is a good car to buy used in a couple of years when the original owner has taken the huge depreciation hit that is likely with this car. Personally I love BMW engineering and the attention to detail so my decision is made.

I've been wondering one thing reading about the magnetic shocks in the ats-v, corvette, other gm cars... does gm have a patent on this ? I think ferrari is also using it on their cars, but why have no other manufacturer hopped on this tech?
it's not exactly new... what gives?
