Misfiring on all 8 cylinders
Just had the SES light come on after being at the beach.. Assuming some sand got somewhere it shouldn't. Checked the codes and its saying that there is a cylinder misfire on all 8 cylinders but the engine is still running as usual, no loss of power or anything.
Is it right to assume that this is more than likely an O2 sensor or fuel filter?? Any advice would be helpful!

Likely an idle control valve.
When there is a misfire on all cylinders, you have to look at something that would affect both banks. It is possible for there to be a cross effect from a bad o2 sensor, but normally this isn't the case. Other causes could be a fault fuel pressure sensor, a failed throttle actuator, or something hardware related (valve problem, etc..) I would venture to say it's the ICV given the year of the car, and a likely mileage of 50K +.

I am not as familiar with my E92 as much as I was with my E46, but I know that on my E46 I would get misfire codes for every cylinder when one of my coils would go bad... Often when coils start to go bad they intermittently stop working before they finally die... Could explain why it's running normally at the moment... |

There are coils for each cylinder so it's doubtful that one bad coil would cause all 8 cylinders to misbehave
You could have all the coils fail at once but even that would be a freak occurrence. |

The E46 ECU is far less sophisticated.

I had the same situation once when I was tracking. The car started to misfire badly. After I stopped and switched the engine off/on everything was OK.
When I was reading the faults I saw misfire in all 8 cylinders and some others... I took my car to the garage where they deleted the faults and they never get back. Most likely the issue was that I was tracking hard with almost empty fuel tank and the engine was not getting enough fuel... |

I overheard someone talking about misfires being rod bearing related last time I was in for my service. Good luck, OP. Take a look at bearing replacement services ASAP
