Hit a rabbit last night- are these parts easy to replace?
Last night, I hit a rabbit. As I was braking, I think it got caught in the front right lower intake area. While braking, it dislodged and went under the car, hitting a piece of the undershield. The upper portion of the intake is slightly cracked and the a piece of the undershield is broken.
The first photo is of the lower intake area- difficult to obtain picture of crack, as it is in the upper right hand corner of the part (when looking at photo). Second photo is of undershield area. Can any of you advise whether these parts are easily replaceable myself and what the process might be? |

Whoa, that crack in the painted rubber bumper would require replacement of the entire front bumper if it goes clear through the urethane. Serious impact there. The undertray is something that frequently takes hits in driveways and you can replace it easily yourself when you can no longer live with it (see threads on "front felt undercarriage" for lots of discussion on this 3-piece set...

on the first picture, can you circle where the crack is? I think I see the crack on the lower portion of the bumper (it has yellowed a bit?) but it may be the seams of the clearbra that is slowly unravelling.

I hit a raccoon a few months back, and had similar damage as you. Cracked front bumper, cracked mode carbon lip, broken undertray.
How do you fix this? File an insurance claim. That's what comprehensive coverage is for. My deductible is $100. I ended up with a new OEM bumper, new lip, new undertray, and new paint. |

Thank you so far for all of your input.
The upper right corner of the black plastic intake is actually the part that is cracked, not the bumper- the lines in the photo are the 3m clearbra. |

Air duct, right - 51747900824
M-DCT Air duct, right - 51748046620 Can't tell by the picture you posted on the other one http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_5860 I'd just call your insurance company like Tbone posted or search like Beemdog posted. To replace the bumper vent, I'd imagine removing the bumper or fender lining would be the way to do it. Either way, thanks for ruining Easter for the kids. |
