Buying a used m3 and an aftermarket warranty

If I buy an E90 m3 out of warranty, is there an aftermarket one I can purchase that will cover the car from rod bearing? And which one would be best? It seems instead of paying a few thousand to fix rod bearing when it comes, can't you put the few thousand into an aftermarket warranty that covers it, and more? I'm pretty new in the used car buying scene, so just seeing the options. From experiences, does BMW extended warranty cover it all? Or will a third party one do just as good? Since from I've searched, the extended warranty is pretty costly for an 08'
