I wouldn't risk not paying for it and having issues later on any future ED or vacation trips. They have your info, do the right thing and pay for it.

Yup, you never know what could show up at passport control. Wouldn't be a good thing if you weren't allowed back in the country. Pay up and be done with it.

Seriously? Are you going back to Switzerland? If not, I wouldn't stress about.
There are different states in the US that don't share information like this and thats the same country, and you guys are worried about passport control... |

Btw, roll your eyes all you want, but if you choose to ignore it, it CAN create issues. http://zurichexpats.com/speeding-in-...-you-will-pay/ "If you are driving your own car when caught speeding, the Swiss authorities will contact your local Driving authority for your postal address and write to you directly. You can choose to ignore it but this is not wise. This will make you a criminal in Switzerland which is fine if you can guarantee you will never return but if you do come back to Switzerland, you will run into a lot of trouble if you were stopped by the police for any reason." OP do what you want, just be informed about whatever you do and not rely on guesses.

The second part of that, other than getting your postal address, is that you become a "criminal" in Switzerland. I get you have your opinion on this, and that's to just skate on the fine, who cares. But why bother? Far easier to pay and not deal with such silliness. I travel a fair amount and to me having my passport clear in all countries I travel in (even if I cannot see myself going there again...you never know), is important. Maybe it's not to you, and that's your call.

Pay for the ticket and frame it in your garage. It's a nice conversational piece.

Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area and so is most of Western Europe. If you plan on doing another ED, or going to any Western European countries for vacation or work, it might be a good idea to pay that fine. These countries share information as there are basically no internal border controls in the Schengen Area.

What was/is the fine? Doesn't Switzerland charge its citizens a % of their income/net worth for speeding tickets?
