Introduction -- MW on Order

Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking on this forum for a bit. Lots of great information, and seems to be a nice group of people.

I used to be very active on Xoutpost.com with my E53 X5. Well last year, i sold my E53, and since I enjoyed having an SUV, i went out and leased a brand new X3 35i M Sport. While the car is really great, it just is unnecessary for me. At 24 YO, i really should be driving a sports car. I feel like a soccer mom....

Enter M3 idea. My buddy just got the M4, and he let me drive it for a week. Well, ever since then, I havent gotten the car out of my head.

So, my order is in, i placed it over a month ago. Still waiting for it to start production! I'm dying, I talked to BMW, and production is slated for June 1st

Here's what I ordered:

2015 M3
Mineral White
Black interior, CF trim
Exec Package
Lighting Package
HK Sound
DCT
Adaptive M Suspension
19'' Black Wheels

Now I can still change the options/color as my car hasnt started production yet. I'm really starting to like the Mineral Grey as well. And i'm totally torn on DCT versus 6MT (i've had manual cars in the past, and loved them, but wow the DCT is amazing)

A few photos for your enjoyment....

I was debating the same about DCT and 6MT... Went with MANUAL since my previous M3's were and i am so glad to do to... This manual transmission is amazing

Congrats on the order! I use to be on xoutpost! I had an 07 48i and an 11 50i. I then made the same realization you did and starting buying sports cars instead. Now is the time! Had a 991 and my f80 is at port of new jersey as we speak

Congrats. As a newcomer myself to the forum and M3's (BMW in general), they both have delivered!

Congrats man!!! The DCT is awesome but the manual transmission reigns supreme for the real driving experience. Change the transmission for sure.

As for the color I'm going to be biased considering I will have a Mineral Grey/Sakhir Orange mated with a 6-spd manual as well.

Wow you're lucky. And nope, just called the 800 number and according to the automated agent, it isn't in production yet.

I'll try to get an agent on the phone later.

Do production dates typically get pushed forward?

The 1800 number still doesn't say I'm status 150, however my sales rep told me it was. I don't think the 1800 number is always real time.

from all the research I've done is that the build week given is usually the week the car finishes production

OP: Your post made me laugh a little because I realized the grass is always greener no matter what color we choose. I placed my order for a MG M4 and I have been really struggling with whether I want to change it to AW.

Congrats on the choice, very similar build to mine.

I had to go with the 6sp, for me it was simple.
1 - their is nothing like rolling through the gears
2 - Who knows if manuals will be around much longer. They are definitely a dying breed
3 - 3K for less driving feel, (although technologically more advanced) just didn't make any sense to me.

Enjoy - mine goes into production week 23...

Mine was scheduled for wk 23 as well, but it looks like it was pushed forward. Call BMW and get a rep on the phone, you may be in the same boat

The 1800 number is:

1800-831-1117. It will prompt you to enter production number etc. After it goes through the song and dance, ask to speak to a rep. They can give you more detail on the order. The 800 automated response doesnt always update....

I just got lucky... My order has been in for over a month now.
