Objects detected on road
Came across this interesting feature today... was driving to work on the interstate and a warning appeared on the HUD and then the instrument cluster. Sure enough about 2 miles later passed work crews picking what looked like road sign blanks off the road.

How did you get the time, temperature and remaining gas-based mileage all to display at the same time? My 335i used to do this, but my new M3 only seems to show one of them!!

go in to the iDrive settings and turn off the digital speedo on the instrument cluster.

I think somewhere between the turbos and the electric power steering module, BMW incorporated a flux capacitor in the new F8X. It goes forward in time, and can tell the future.

Another interesting thing is the near freezing warning that shows up in the same place at temps detected below 38 degrees F. I kinda feel like its the car telling you to drive faster to warm it up or get it the hell in a garage... hahaha

It comes in through the FM band. First time I saw it was in my 435gc. Pretty cool

Aluminum body? Is that an option?

The coolest thing seems to be the giant red vehicle that shows up in your heads up display it gets larger as you're driving faster and its closing the gap quickly to tell you the car is getting ready to brake assist. I can finally text while driving thank you bmw.

Objects Detected on Road - Warning!
(sorry for the crappy photos)
Has anyone seen the Objects Detected on Road warning? This warning has popped up on my HUD and instrument cluster several times. Freaked me out at first - expecting to find a sofa or mattress blocking the highway. But usually nothing seen on the road after the warning. However, last night I was driving home and got the warning again. Tried to take a couple pics, but kind of difficult as the warning does not appear on the HUD very long. Then lo and behold, there was a tire in my lane about a half mile ahead. Didn't get a photo of the tire - I was too busy avoiding it. I guess the warning comes from the Real Time Traffic. Be sure to pay attention when the warning appears, we have all read the horror stories of other folks running over things and causing lots of damage underneath the car. |

I've seen the warning 3 or 4 times in the last 2 months. The first time I saw it it was for debris still in the roadway after an accident about 0.5 miles ahead. The other times I got the warning there was nothing in the road. Perhaps it had already been cleaned up.

Funny you posted, I saw the warning yesterday and again today for the same place. Only it was for a highway I had just merged onto but in the opposite direction.

I have gotten that warning like 5 times, I was surprised the first time and thought it was a neat feature. Made me pay attention even more for objects after the warning for the next few miles I was driving. Sure enough, saw a couch in my lane that I easily avoided and looked like someone had already nailed it.
