Both cars are epic and there no car that is the sore loser.

Think it proves the point that a bolt on M5/m6 isn't making 700WHP...

Stock z06 dynos are all over the place from 610-550whp and 570-620wtrq

Doesn't help the Vette's top speed ambitions when it has that air brake on the back too...I mean, superbly designed downforce.

So?
You know M6 is ~4250 lb and Z06 is 3600 lb right?
even 700 WHP M6 has 0.164 power to weight ratio while 600 WHP Z06 has 0.166
Now why M6 pulls? better traction at upshifting next to redline and DCT vs MT

Power to weight ratios (despite how we say it) are more commonly expressed as weight/power.

So the M6 would be 4250/600 would be 6.1.
The Z06 would be 3600/600 would be 6.0.

The problem is the M6 has an aero advantage, gearing advantage, and shift speed advantage.

For races at these speeds (above 80 and especially above 120), aero is more important that weight. ThrustSCC, a land world speed record car, weighs 10 1/2 tons. Above 120 the effect of weight becomes negligible compared to the effect of aero drag.

The point is, image this race re-ran where the power is unchanged but the Z06 has an 8 speed auto with no aero, and the M6 is a manual with aero.

I wonder why... it wasn't getting ugly (really ugly). Im not sure it was mentioned here but that Z06 was manual right? The Auto would have performed better.

Edit: Turbo8765 alluded to it above

I think both are correct. In fact the term of Power to weight ratio (P/W) makes more sense since the result is m^2/S^3 in SI system which is equal to "a*v" where "a" presents Acceleration and "v" presents Velocity
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-to-weight_ratio

As far as gearing ratio and shifting speed I kinda agree and that's why I already referred to the advantage of DCT vs MT in my original post.

These are the Z06 MT gear ratios compare to M6 DCT:

Z06 MT gear ratio/maximum speed
1. 2.29/66
2. 1.6193
3. 1.21/124
4. 1.00/150
5. 0.82/183
6. 0.68/185
7. 0.45/279
Axle ratio: 3.42

M6 DCT gear ratio/maximum speed
1. 4.81/38
2. 2.59/70
3. 1.70/106
4. 1.28/141
5. 1.00/180
6. 0.84/190
7. 0.67/238
Axle ratio: 3.15

Also I agree with you at higher speed aero is important; however since "acceleration" still depends on force (at wheels) and mass (weight) then you can't ignore the weight.
Simply we can say F - Fd-Frr =m *a
where:
F is the force at wheel
Frr is the rolling resistance force (rolling friction)
Fd is drag force (this term will increase as velocity is increased)
