iOS 8.3 kill bluetooth calls for anyone?
I updated to 8.3 a few days ago and ever since the update I cannot make a call. I can connect my phone with the car, but when making a call, I get a weird calling tone as if its interference.
Trying this with an Android phone works just fine. I'm gonna try it with a 8.2 iOS device tomorrow and see if that works. Just trying to determine if its 8.3 or an issue thats developed with the car, but I doubt its the latter. |

Mine works fine. Try deleting your phone from the car bluetooth completely and re-pairing....I've read a lot where phones (specifically iPhones) for some reason start to act funny with the BMW iDrive system and periodically re-pairing them resets any issues...hope that helps.

On your phone: Settings > Bluetooth Your car should show up as BMW1234(last 4 numbers of your VIN) There should be an arrow directly to the right of your car; Select it. Now select "Forget Device" In the car: Settings > Connections > Bluetooth Hightlight your Iphone Click the "Option" button on the iDrive controller. Select "Remove device" After you do this, Re-pair your phone to the car. |

yeh i've tried everything minus the iTunes restore.
8.0 or 8.2 on a friends 4S works fine as does another Android phone. before i do the iTunes restore I'm gonna see if bluetooth audio works as i haven't tried that yet, just bluetooth calling . edit: okay the bluetooth audio works fine. just calling thats still an issue. i have one last suspicion of what the problem may be if its not the car or the phone OS, but i'm gonna try the restore first. I know this sounds stoopid...but is your phone set up to be a phone in your car (go to bluetooth settings and make sure it's checked)...I know its like asking if your refrigerator is plugged in but...
Also did you do any coding to HU_NBT? |

Yes both Telephone and Audio are checked under my phone, even after I just did the restore which did not solve the problem.
No, no coding at all. But that reminds me that I need to get some things done. Haha. Totally forgot about coding. Okay on to my last suspicion. So last week I put a new battery in from iFixit following their guide. Everything went as expected, battery life is now awesome and all functions on the phone work just fine. A day later I updated to 8.3, and then several days later I drove the car and had the bluetooth screwup. I'm gonna take the phone apart and reattach all the cables. Its the only possibility left. I've tried everything else. 8.3 works for others, other iOS versions work, Android works, thus it can't be the car or phone software. Has to be my hardware. This is an iPhone 5S with 8.3 btw. Perhaps theres a compatibility issue with 8.3 and this hardware, but I'm gonna try reattaching cables first. But heck, bluetooth audio continues to work so how can it be an issue with the hardware? |

Maybe before taking phone apart try to hook up to a Bluetooth headset/phone? If you can't hook up to that then maybe a hardware thing?

Hopefully that's it...if it doesn't work then borrow someone's Bluetooth headset and set if that works with your phone, if that works then I'd say go get the car checked (never mind, you said friends phone worked in your car?)

Got It!
Okay so it was a problem with the reassembly of my phone after the battery replacement. The circles here are different size screws and three of them are magnetic while the top right one is not. The two left ones are 1.7mm while the other two are 1.2 and 1.3mm. I had them in the wrong positions and that led to the interference with bluetooth. I really don't know how I could have done this as I was extremely careful during the whole process, but whatever. I realized the problem when going through the tutorial again and finding the non magnetic screw in the wrong position. It honestly still doesn't make sense though as the two left ones are supposed to be 1.7mm, the top right non magnetic is supposed to be 1.3mm, and the bottom right is supposed to be 1.2mm. When comparing the size of the screws, however, the 1.3mm non magnetic one is definitely the same size as one of the larger 1.7mm, while the other supposed 1.7mm one is about 1.3mm in size. Leads me to believe the guide is wrong, but whatever. Phone calls finally work. |
