SNI-35 or LC-2

I'm looking to have a JL W6 and amp installed (1400.5), I've had the same setup in every car I've owned and never needed a converter. I had them installed in my E92 but I never got a lot of power from the sub some I'm guessing this is necessary on BMWs. Every stereo shop I call tells me a different story, the LC-2 is a bit more advanced but I'm trying to figure out if I can get away without either or at a minimum the SNI unit. I'm not overly concerned with the adjustments that can be made with the LC-2, I just want some extra bass.

Can I get some decent power without either unit, or do I have to have the LC-2?

If your system is the HiFi then the PAC will do.

If your system is the HK then your only choice so far will be the LC2i. The LC2i active LOC is used the HK OEM system due to the 30V+ peaks of the OEM amp woofer outputs.

The LC2i withstand up to 40V. The PAC only ~12V.

I have the HK system, thanks for the reply! Any idea if this was why I couldn't get any power on my M3 (had Enhanced Premium Sound/Bose)?

The EPS (never been any Bose system in any BMW, by the way) had an OEM amp with 35V+ peaks at the woofer outputs. No aftermarket amp in the market can withstand that input voltage.

So most probably the first bass peak saturated the inputs of whatever amp you were using.
