Just pulled the triger and bought the M4...last one I owned was an '09 E92 M3

Haven't owned/driven an ///M car since 2009. Last one I drove/sold was an E92 M3. Just pulled the trigger on a new F82 (MG/SO/Black wheels/6MT). I guess I'm curious how much I am going to like the F82 over the E92 I used to own. Did I make the right color/interior choice? The pics I saw of that combo look amazing.

I remember my old E92 was a bit difficult to shift with the 6MT. The torque also sucked off the line until reaching higher rpms. I'm guessing this was fixed with the F82 from what I've seen. I really enjoyed the old V8, but I'm guessing from reading this forum (it's been a while for me) new owners are just as happy with the new engine as compared to the older V8. I also remember my premium sound on the E92 wasn't as good as the RRS HSE I currently own. Did they also fix this? Thanks for the inputs and I'm excited to finally be back.

Congrats!!!! I think any interior/exterior combo selected is up to individual taste so I am sure you will be pleased. I've had mine for about two months now and 3,000 miles, including one serious 6 hr track day. On the track its a flat out animal. Even with my less-experienced track time, I was able to simply destroy any other M-cars including an E92, M-coupes, and several E36 & 46's. The pro drivers I let test it said they thought it was one of the best cars they had ever driven.

That said, the stereo is great, a leap forward, as well as the Nav and other tech bits. I am extremely pleased with all the features ad function. Mine is a DCT as I have a nerve problem and can't drive 6mt w/o consequences (had to share my excuse) so I can't comment on it...

Things that have me concerned me concerned:

Everything appears to be wearing pretty poorly and its only two months old. The black trim around my windshield is already really faded and I am not sure why as I handwash it. Same for the drivers door handle plastic, really worn already.

The black rims appear to be showing signs of pitting and I take special care to prevent this so I am completely confused at how this is happening.

The windshield trim is the most bizarre as several people mentioned it at a recent caffeine and carburetors get together. I am leasing it, but I installed the MPE, full M-performance front kit with sideskirts, so I was hoping to buy it out at the EOL. Now I am thinking of keeping an eye out for a new bumper to make the trade in easier although the skirts are on forever..at least I hope...

Overall, amazing car that just shows signs of the age we now live in. My E36 is 18 years old with 54k miles and was outside for 12 of those years and doesn't show a fraction of the wear this car has after two months...but its a lot slower too

Oh, the engine...well I had an 11'335 so I am used to it. I loved the V8 too, but this one has so much more useful power at every rev, really, really fun. The exhaust is much better than I had feared as well and with the MPE, really sounds cool. I am getting the flap control because it would be nice to cruise around making a ton of awesome melody while being able to be in D-mode getting better MPG. I made a four hour trip to VA and averaged 29 MPG cruising at about 85, whereas around town in my M1 setting I get about 18...hope that's helpful...Its a blast!

Congrats on your new M4!! I think you will really enjoy it. I have had mine for over 8 months and have had no wear problems like the previous poster. Everything on mine still looks like the day that I bought it. I have the full leather interior in black and it look fabulous.

The trim to the sides of the windshield CAME faded (unless a product was applied to it by the dealership) as well as the rubber trim around the windows. I have no idea why, but both of those pieces of plastic and rubber are simply gray-ish from the factory.

You can make it dark using various trim detailers. Some products will even last awhile/through some rain.

It doesn't bother me anymore.

Also, for the wheels pitting, that's serious - either a defect in the wheels or some wheel cleaner product was used improperly. My 18" wheels are perfect still (knock on wood).

That would be the exact combination I would order.

Definitely can't go wrong with gray/red

I would just take it to the dealership for the windshield trim, the piece is like $20 and it will take them 5 minutes to install.

Cool, appreciate the advice and insight! I haven't seen any other M4's up close yet so had no idea lol...Yeah the rims are concerning me a bit. I don't use any abrasive cleaners so not sure what is happening...I am nit-picking though... The car is just awesome so far.

I once had the leather rip along the top seam in my 335i, and you could tell it wasn't abused, and it appeared to be due to the heat here in FL and I just brought it to the dealership told them I was unhappy and that shouldnt happen and they replaced the whole top leather portion of my back seat.

If it was the lower trim, mine came off 3 times before they fixed it correctly.

So...My F82 is chillin' at the Brunswick VPC and has been since the 14th of this month. BMW NA says it's awaiting transport to the Charlotte, NC dealer (since the 18th). Can't get a straight or updated answer out of anyone in customer relations. Any idea what may be the holdup? The Charlotte dealer also doesn't seem to know the truck schedule. Just curious.

Congratulations!

Beautiful configuration. I had the idea to replace my E92 with my F82 but I can not do it, they are so different that my best choice was to keep both.
