Conducting PPI at a local dealership versus indy shop?
Hi all,
I'm on a quest to finding a used 135is, and found one locally that looks promising from a private seller. I would like to get a pre-purchase inspection done, and I called an independent shop and a BMW dealership to inquire about PPI costs. As it happens, the price is fairly close, but the BMW dealership is located more closely to both to the seller and I. My question is, do you see any issues or concerns taking a BMW that is still under original warranty to a dealership for PPI? Both the dealership and independent shop have fairly good reviews on Yelp. I should also note that the private seller regularly takes the car to this particular dealership for service. I just want to make sure that the dealership can be impartial and provide an honest/ thorough assessment. thanks! |

Would you take your sister to the dance or the hot girl?
I'd probably go to the indy if they specialize in BMW. If their techs are trained and certified BMW and have years of experience, they might give you an unbiased opinion. The dealership may give you their opinion, but they look to get cars in and out quickly. The amount of time they spend might be less than the indy who depends on repeat business and word of mouth reference. Eventually, when your warranty runs out they want you as a customer. You really believe Yelp reviews?
