Replacing Brake Light Switch DIY???

Looking for some information or a DIY anywhere regarding replacing the brake light switch. I am having an issue with the brake lights staying on unless I pull the pedal forward with my left foot after each brake. There really is no play, the lights just seem to be staying on. Research has led me to replacing this piece so that's what I'm going to do since it is pretty cheap...as soon as I know how.

I guess I'm the first person in the history of 1 series vehicles to have this issue...

First time I have heard about it on this forum. Sounds exactly like what my tractor does accept with the accelerator.

Your pedal could be loose from usage over the years. I would look into tightening it back up or maybe a new spring in there somewhere since it's not springing back fully after being pressed.

Everything I find when generally searching for this issue points to the switch as it has a spring loaded actuator that opens and closes the circuit for the lights. There really is no play, the pedal is as tight as it's always been and as mentioned in original post, when I touch the pedal with my foot to make sure they're off, the pedal doesn't even move really so idk, I will check everything out and go from there.
