HUD - reflection on windshield
I have noticed when the sun is high in the sky a reflection on the windshield from the HUD device can be annoying.
I tried to capture a photo while driving, it is more annoying in real life than in the photo - see below. Has anyone else observed this? Any suggestions to prevent/reduce this? Thanks |

The right sunglasses will block it out. My Maui Jims block the entire HUD display but my cheaper polarized Oakleys do not block the HUD display but they do block out the reflection. I only see the reflection when the sun is bright enough to need sunglasses so it works perfect with the Oakleys.

It is kinda annoying so I know what you're talking about. Seems like an inherent issue with having HUD across generations. I've just learned to ignore it and only recalled how annoying it was once you mentioned it.

Noticed the same. I attempted at playing with the display setup, but nothing fixed it. I just decided ignore it.

OP... every car I've driven in with a HUD had some dash reflections and not much you can do. I don't even notice it any longer

Thanks. Was wondering if everyone with HUD experiences this or I needed to clean my HUD device or something. Sounds like not much we can do about it.

I had a hud problem for a few weeks too. A really sharp golden reflection.
I'm happy to say I found my missing sunglasses that would've helped with this problem if they had not been the problem in the first place. Rick I suggest the age old get a bigger problem and the old one goes away approach. The reflection used to annoy me too but not any more!

I get the reflection too on very sunny days. I have polarized Oakleys and they do help. I mostly just block it out

No problem with mine, you need to add more info to your display

Just curious, is that the M mode display and can you add more info to that display? The previous gen HUD M Mode is pretty barren (just like pictured) with a somewhat useless tach (only good as a shiftlight).

It's like that on my 335 too. It's only bad on very bright sunny days, and also depends on your position relative to the sun. Even if it's very bright out, you might not see this at all depending upon which direction you're driving in. I've only noticed this about 3 or 4 times since I've had my car. Of course, being in PA, it's gray and gloomy outside half the time, so I suppose this could be a much bigger issue in AZ, NV or CA.

HUD Reflection
They all do that, yes really. I have to wear non-polarized sunglasses to see the HUD clearly. You can increase the brightness. Try that.

In my E60 M5 the HUD was also in color. As the RPMs increased it would go from green to yellow to red for red line. Does this one do that, or does it always stay gray? I haven't had the break in service done - not sure if they change it.
