Now I was given a lesson by a guy in a C7

Early Sunday morning 6:45am I was coming home from Hunter Mountain. Why 6;45am you might ask? Because the road is mine . No one on the thruway, never even saw state troopers. An occasional big rig here and there. A half hour into my cruise home a new vette comes up on me. He gave me the thumbs up and I gave it to him. We went back and forth overtaking each other for about 10 miles, top speed maybe 85 mph. By the way for all you safety people, the weather was perfect sunny day pretty cool outside maybe 50 degrees not really sure, and dry and I never take the nannies off, if we can't have fun in these cars what is the point?

After this back and forth he pulls up to me and signals that he wants to play. So I floor it as does he. Vrooooom, I knew the Vette was fast, but Jesus that thing is incredible. Our cars are fast, but that thing is in a different league.

What's the point of this little tale, there is no point. Just having a little fun on a Sunday morning.

It really shouldn't have been that much faster [in a straight line]; perhaps he had a tune.

Agreed. Depending on driver and trans (DCT vs 6MT), either you or him could have won. But yes, they are fast. Just be careful out there.

Perhaps it did, I have no way of knowing. We stayed close for the first ten seconds then he pulled away. I know that his car was loud when he got on it.

The C7 is faster (trapping 1-2mph faster) but it should be incrementally faster. If you stayed close for 10 seconds and he was gradually pulling away, that makes sense to me. If he walked away from you, then he had something done to his car.

C7 = 11.8-12.0 @ 119-121mph
M4 = 12.0-12.2 @ 118-120mph

C7 is faster but they are pretty close.

What you don't realize is that guy in the C7 actually has an E46 M3 as well, and was playing with a debadged F80 M3 the other day. And that the guy is actually an old lady, who also owns a bicycle

Very true, or a turbo S would have done to the z06 what the z06 did to the m4.

Link didn't work but here is the correct one ... Z07 vs GT-R vs Turbo S

Glad the Turbo S is faster in a straight line as that's its specialty (not really being a track car like the GT3, etc) and that you could almost buy 2 of the Z06's for the same price

The Z06 isn't a dragster and the results don't surprise me... now put it on the 'Ring with the Turbo S and we have potentially a different outcome. More brakes, more cornering power, etc. That's assuming it doesn't overheat

Is your car stock? I'm surprised that you kept up, even for 10 seconds? I would have expected him to walk you right when he floored it and for you not to keep up.

yeah its one of few cars that if you want to race them you might as well just bend over... Amazing car for the price, if only their interiors were nicer.

The turbo S isnt a dragster either. Its a luxury GT car.

I'd hardly say a car that makes 650 hp/tq isnt a car that is simply made to go fast, whether on a track or in a straight.

Given the z06's endurance seems to be an issue, I'll take the turbo S on the Ring too.

The Z06 is putting down some great later Gs and the braking distances were very short. They did a couple things right.

No mods to my car, but when I noticed he wanted to play I probably kicked my foot down before he did. We were even when we started but I 'm sure I jumped the gun sort of speak.

Have you seen a new one inside? My C7 was 95% as nice as my M4 on the interior. In some ways it was nicer as it had more of a "cockpit" feel.

Just poking a little fun; didn't mean anything by it. I thought from your title it was a light-hearted post. Didn't know them mods adjusted it. In any case, sorry to offend; that was not my intention
