Trunk lid MY differences?
Anyone know the differences in trunk lids from a 2007-2010 vs 2011+? Can I install an earlier one on a later car? They have different part numbers, but is it only LCI or visually different, or will it not fit?
I'm looking for a spare trunk to mount my wing onto for my 2011 LCI coupe, but I can only find older trunk lids locally. |

So I did some more research. It looks like non-LCI coupes changed to the same part number for the trunk after 5/2009. That sounds optimistic an earlier one will fit.

Just an fyi. I have two trunks from different years. I do believe there are different part numbers for trunks that have a key hole and ones that do not. My OEM trunk came without a key hole. The one I purchased aftermarket was also an OEM trunk but had a key hole.
For example... did a quick search and these are the part numbers for the different years. Im not saying an 09 trunk wont fit a 2012 but I do believe there are a few differences that you will notice when installing the two. They are not comptely identical but will install on any year. 2011-2012 41627254428 2009 M3 41617168515 2010 M3 41627254425 Last edited by MRG Race Co; 03-25-2015 at 06:24 PM.. |
