PPK - Does it change after install, or is it static right from the start?
Hi... Had PPK installed and heard that it does NOT adapt with additional mileage, and an hour later was told the exact opposite. I was wondering if there was a solid answer somewhere regarding this. Thanks in advance for the help!

It took a day or two of good driving for the PPK be in full effect for me. I noticed the initial little power boost and nicer throttle as soon as I left the dealership. Took day for the bubbles to be loud and proud. Wish I had just stomached up and going PPK2 at the time.

So yes, I would say it does take a bit of time for it to adapt, for me it wasn't too long. |

All flash tunes will take about 400 miles of driving before fully adjusting or adapting to engine. Also using premium fuel will effect how the "tune" runs. But yes, you should notice an increase in performance right away. Its just after a few hundred miles the engine will feel even better.

As Dackelone said, it takes a couple hundred miles to learn. When BMW reflashed my DME with the latest DCT fix, it took a few miles to relearn. Pops and burbles got back to normal a couple hundred miles in.

When I had mine installed they reset my transmission adaptations so the difference was noticeable immediately in that regard.
I definitely felt more power and better exhaust note right away. The power comes in earlier too. It got smoother after 250-400 miles.

I (or my butt dyno) noticed the increased hp/trq really right off the bat. Maybe that was just me being hopeful after dropping the cash. In any event, the N55 certainly wakes up with the PPK installed.
I really notice the increased power in WOT pulls, but also seems to have even more torques (if you can believe it) down low. I feel as the PPK1 took pretty much any semblance of turbo lag out of this N55 (not that it was really perceptible to begin with) What i really noticed changing though is the audible effects. Pops, crackles, gurgles, all kinds of nice stuff. Seems these get more pronounced each day almost. You really start to notice a generally more 'throaty' exhaust note and obviously the overrun on cold start is MUCH more pronounced w/PPK1 I've had the tune in just coming on a year now.... its a nice little tune. |

ppk
Is this something I can still buy from the dealer? and what should I expect to pay in Canada? Is this a software upgrade plus the exhaust? Thanks for any information

BMW doesn't say anything about PPK changing the exhaust tone, but here's what they do say: "The Version 1 Power Kit also adds a very sporty exhaust burbling noise during engine overrun conditions." I've had mine since 2011 and I agree. No exhaust tone change for me.

Since my car is cpo, I am a little skeptical about going this route for warranty purposes. Dealer will charge around $950 all said and done. 950 is too much IMO |

Was wondering about coder flashed PPK, which i've also read about recently. Normal PPK is wedded to your VIN, so what happens if your dealer has to update your software for some reason, like for some repair that requires an update, etc. Do you lose your coder flashed PPK? Also, is it the full PPK, or just some version of it?
