HK sound

This car continues to blow me away in all respects. I think I got the stereo dialed in this past weekend and it's by far and away the best stock stereo I have heard. One question though: I could not find a shuffle function for the music library. Is there such a function?

Same here with listening to my playlist using Bluetooth... curious for a response.

Mmm... Actually I think the overall consensus from these forums is that the HK sound is lacking. The Bose system in my old altima was better.

You wish!

If you take the time to get the EQ settings just right, the HK is a great OEM system. My FLAC files sound awesome. Most of the complaints are probably coming from people with low quality MP3 files on their devices.

At first I found that the HK setup sounded a bit flat. But it was my fault for trusting factoring settings.
Once I got into the radio settings, I found that below the equalizer the surround option was turned off. Once I enabled it, the sound went to a whole other level.
Don't trust the factory settings are what is best for you. Spend some time tuning it to your taste.

The HK sound is great. Just needs a few tweaks from the default settings.

Good to know on the FLAC. I was waiting for a solid answer on this. I lost the majority of my music collection, and I've got upwards of 200+ artists retrieve.

And yes, properly tuned HK with a proper file source is going to be money. I'll only be using BT for the phone, and any other phone integration will be done through USB if possible.

The shuffle is actually called "random". You have to chose a playlist and start the first song playing. Then hit your "option" button on the idrive controller, then check the box for random.

Side note: If you go to the song list while random is selected your songs will be displayed in random order and not the way you have them organized in your iTunes if that is what you are using. When I first did that it had me wondering why all of sudden my library was not in my preferred order.

Yeah, depends on the quality of the connection and the files. If you're pushing Mp3s or using Pandora through bluetooth, you're not getting great quality -- I don't care how you set the EQ. As some have stated, FLAC files through a wired connection is perhaps the best you'll get -- outside of a high quality CD.

What kind of settings are you guys using in the equalizer? I know its subjective, but a good starting point would be helpful!

Try these, basically a C shaped curve. Or you can look at the eq settings on itunes and copy those.

You can't play FLAC via USB?
