Another new owner! Stepping up/down from an M5

Purchased it a few days ago from a member here, great buying experience and a great car! I had an e46 M3 and an e60 M5. What issues should I watch for with an E92? Other than the bearings issue, I already know about..
It's an 09 with 33k miles. Thanks!

Not sure why no one else has welcomed you, but welcome!! Suggest you do some searching on issues to watch out for - there are many threads already posted on this. You will find the car is generally pretty bullet-proof with not a ton of common problems. Of course no car is perfect but read away!

Welcome, not many other issues to look out for. One common issue might be throttle actuators but other than that i'd say these cars are fairly reliable once maintained well.

Welcome onboard Europower!

With a couple of M's in the baggage already you'll know how to avoid the issues - push fluid like you push throttle and you'll be fine.

Cheers

Welcome from a fellow former e60 m5 owner! Power wise, expect the m3 to feel like the m5 in P400; it just doesn't pull as hard as the M5 did above 5k rpms. Handling wise, no question the m3 makes the m5 feel like a fat pig.

Alright, refreshed my knowledge in Photoshop, and finally posted some pics. Bad cell phone pics Original post was written on a phone.
Does this forum have a mobile app? It would make things much easier..

Thanks for replies guys, we had a phenomenal group of people on M5 Board, sure it will be the same here. Only thing over there was a lot of negativity, and a sort of a mass panic. For a while I got caught up in it, and was freaking out that my car will blow up any day! I was listening to every sound thinking my vanos, or rod bearings are going bad. So I finally stopped logging on so much, and enjoyed the car more. And, had no issues with it!

Happy with replies so far! I think I will sleep much better at night than I did with the M5..

So far LOVE the handling. Power is ok, hopefully soon it will be even faster than my M5. Can't wait to autocross again though! M5 really did feel like a whale...

Can you post another couple of side pics? I'm considering black dinan rims that look just like this. I have a Silverstone as well.

You'll find a lot of the same issues with the M3. Rod bearings is a big issue and lots threads on that. It is basically the same engine design as the M5/6 but in a smaller motor.

But get out there and enjoy the car, don't let fearing things blow up take away from the driving experience.

welcome and nice pick up. Any reasons why you decided to leave the E60 M5? That V10 is phenomenal.

While I agree on not getting caught up with the bearings fearmongering, I don't agree with turning the blind eye on monitoring bearings issue.

IMO, if you take oil sample analysis regularly and consistently, and use shorter oil change intervals, you'll be able to tell if your bearings are going out. This is the same with the S85B50. The S65B40 uses the exact same components with the exact same bearing tolerances, and the exact same oil. The issues between both engines are common across the board.
