Finally Got my M3!
(There is no TL: DR) I finally got a 2011 AW E92 M3! Let's just say its been many years in the making since at around the fall of 2010 when I nearly bought an E92 M3 and regretted it ever since. I fell in love with the moment I heard the sound of the E9x's V8 which was a euphoric experience to say the least. I've been driving a 2001 E46 330ci that currently has 208k miles and is currently covered in what Texas likes to describe as a snow storm (new 2011 baby is in the garage). I've had the E46 since early 2005 which survived multiple trips to NJ and back. Driving the car for 10 years forged a relationship to the point where I could not imagine driving new car because of the bond of being through so much together (except for breakdowns and issues). Boy do I still love the car. The car has outlasted numerous girlfriends, years of strange and odd weather from the southwest and sadly having to sit outside for a few years while I went to college in Oklahoma. But nonetheless I did not imagine I'd want another car until I test drove an E92 M3 back in 2010. From that moment I was hooked and I truly appreciated the car, envied all the drivers who had one, and couldn't wait to own one. As of early Feb 2015 I am the proud owner of a lovely 2011 AlpineWeiss E92 M3 Comp DCT (AlpineWhite, yes I know) but my mom speaks German and totally appreciates the German touch. Besides being a long time lurker here on the forums I am so glad I could join the M3post community and life instead of being caught up in the rod bearings debate and finally reading someone's comment who made me laugh and finally pull the trigger on the car. As my memory serves me this is not verbatim but it essentially said something like "you can either worry about the rod bearings or you can join us and never look back and be extremely satisfied with your owning an M3" and it was the truth. I still can't get over how amazing and impressive the car is with everyday of getting to know it better. I didn't think cars could really be addicting except I think I've found it to be so. Nothing makes me happier than than starting the car and hearing the cold start V8 and also merging or passing on the highway. Here's to the good years to come in such an amazing car.

Very nice. I see the car comes with some tasteful upgrades already. Some carbon mirror caps and front lip would go well with the spoiler and wheels.
I plan on getting my wheels painted or powder coated that color soon.

Congrats!
What a great story! I also came from a 2005 Zhp, regret selling the car so much, but I love my M3!

Car looks great. No kidding about the roads at DFW. I picked up my car there on a Sunday and it felt like I was driving in mad rush hour. No way I can drive in that city and not go

Congrats OP.
Sometimes, deferred satisfaction ends up being the most satisfying experience. I can relate to that too. Congrats on your new M3. She looks great too boot. Enjoy!

I appreciate the kind words and welcome to forums. Glad to have a group that truly understands and prides themselves in what it means to have "The Ultimate Driving machine." Another wet day in DFW and I'd still rather wait to drive my M til I don't have to worry about other drivers on the road.

Congrats man!! The alpine white looks great! I too have been a long time forum "lurker", and am flying to Portland from San Diego this coming Friday to pick up a 2012 Jerez Black M3 Coupe, 30k miles. He's a pretty decent photographer, and we'll be taking HWY 1 almost exclusively for the full drive from Portland back down to San Diego.
Can't wait to join the e92 club, with the glorious V8 (I'm coming from a 2004 530i) for the last 6 years. |
