Will I regret no HK sound?
Hey guys, my order is already in and being processed by BMW, I was just wondering if I will miss the HK sound. I didn't think it would be a big deal, so I left it off my build. I have HK in my 335is and I'm almost positive both my parents' Mercedes' have it. Is it really that big of a difference? Should I try to add it last minute? Or get something aftermarket when the car comes?
Thanks!

It's an absolute bargain and a definite big step up from the base system but, if your car is already being built, just add something aftermarket and go even better to make the effort and cost worthwhile.

Get it, get it.
Unless you're sure you are going to install some aftermarket set up because you're into that. If I had not gotten it I would probably sell the car, good sound is that important to me. |

If you care at all about sound quality, get it. The base system (BMW Hi-Fi) can be upgraded with BAVSOUND speakers and sound good (from what others are saying), but so can the H/K unit should you decide to do so.

I have the standard hi-fi with the Bavsound upgrade, and although it sounds much better, it is still lacking punch on the low end. I wish I spent the extra dough on the HK. I'm assuming the bass on the HK is better, and I'm sure overall the sound will be much tighter with the Bavsound upgrade. If I get a new sub, then the hifi will probably be fine for me.

I fiddled around with the different selections that you can change on the HK system and I finally believe I have it right now. A world of difference, call your dealer and have him add it on.

I don't have it, but I wish I did. The standard system doesn't sound great.

Get it if you can. I've owned HK cars and non and there's a noticeable difference.
You could always add an aftermarket system in place of the OEM in the future but it won't be as clean of an install. |

One more vote for "Get it"! I heard the base system and it sounds like crap!

Get it and just make sure you don't listen to Sirius XM, the sound quality is so terrible these days its unreal. . . Soon enough streaming audio via cell towers will utterly crush Sirius out of the water due to their crappy bandwidth. Streaming Pandora over bluetooth from my phone is like twice the quality of Sirius and that is sad.

I just checked on bmwusa and I have moved to the "Production Begins" stage. Is it too late (especially since I've been told that the bmwusa site lags behind the actual stage of production the car is in)

Its the only paid checkbox i ticked. I had it in my e92 and I thought it was worth it to never have to think about wiring my own stuff.
