Adaptive headlights include auto high beams?

Been trying to research this as much as possible... My '11 E90 M3 has adaptive headlights, but it doesn't seem to have auto high beams. With the light switch in auto, and the high beams engaged, they don't seem to turn off automatically with oncoming cars. Should my car have auto high beams, or is that a separate option from adaptive headlights? Thanks for any insight!

Separate options I believe. The auto high-beam requires a special sensor built into the rearview.

Ok, thanks. Also, I looked at the window sticker, and it doesn't say anywhere on it that it has adaptive headlights, but I know it does considering they move with steering inputs. Were the adaptive headlights a standard option on the most recent cars? My E90 is a 2011.5

No, they are not.
Adaptive headlights were not standard. Only the Bi-Xenon lights.
Also? If you want the adap-Hi, you can do a retro fit. But you have to have certain features already done to the car?!

What's interesting, is that when I do the BMW decoder, the adaptive headlights are under the "standard" section.

Adaptive headlights ARE standard in the US on the E9x M3 and were since launch, and every regular 3 Series that is optioned with xenons also gets adaptive.

Auto high beams have always been a separate option.

Is the auto high beam mean you have 2 sensors in the front windshield around the mirror area?
