MPG on 35i

Sorry if been discussed. I had a 2010 X5d and traded for the 2014 35i. Mainly was just a little tired of the diesel, and since the mpg was rated slightly higher than the 2010 d, I went back to gas. With diesel usually higher in price was close to a wash on cost, eben though the new diesel gets much better mpg. Anyway, the 35i is rated 27 hwy mpg and I was curious is anyone getting that? If so how fast are you driving? I admit I drive this a little sportier than the diesel, but even when I really baby it in eco mode I've never gotten better than 25 mpg unless I go under 70 on cruise on a flat road! And in town, again I drive a little harder sometime, but even in eco mode which can't keep up with traffic on acceleration, I got much better mpg with the diesel. I know it is a moot point because this is a great vehicle and fun to drive, I was just curious as to how you have to drive to get the stated mpg numbers. And I get if you pay 75K for the car you don't really worry about a few more fill ups

I bet that BMW got 27 is in the even lower speed and better road/weather conditions than what you got here.

To me, I got almost 26 with 55-65 with eco mode in the flat roads. My is only 500 miles so far. It should get better soon. Unfortunately, it's hard for us to drive above 70 here...

19?????? I've been on this car for about 1500 miles now and I can barely manage to go above 14mpg. Mostly city driving though. Mixed with bit of highway, my best so far is about 16mpg.

My average is about 280 miles on 20 gallon fill up. Pretty sad.

Think BMW needs to contact EPA for this MPG

The opposite of my highway MPG, my city MPG is way lower than the standard number BMW has posted. But, I'm happy with it so far.

IMO, with the Eco Pro and Stop&Go, my averaged MPG is about 14.6+ in Manhattan. I'm satisfied with such heavy vehicle in this type of environment.

Thanks for the input. My city driving is not in heavy traffic, but my last tank I was getting 16 mpg! If you watch the mpg dial if you accelerate at all, even babying it, the mpg is under 10 until you get up to a cruising speed of about 40. I guess the bottom line is likely not going to hit the stated mpg numbers even in eco mode, not sure how they acheived them? With gas lower in $ now just going to drive it and have fun anyway!

Amazing the 35i numbers are that low. My '13 50i averaged 15.4mpg 80/20 city/hwy and my chipped '15 35d is averaging 28.7mpg 80/20city/hwy. we got over 700 miles per tank last toad trip in the 35d! I don't care so much about fuel cost but i hate filling up! Its nice to go so long before needing to fuel up the diesel.

I do about 90% highway and travel in speeds from 70-80, sometimes up to 85, and I average 22 mpg every tank. in the summer it was almost up to 24.

Over the internet, there are some articles indicating how those MPGs are tested. IMO, those conditions are hard for us to replicate in the daily life.

Meanwhile, with the Exxon Mobile explosion, the $ may be up a little bit... I saw the price in CA went up $.10 or $.20 right after the explosion... All the gas stations owners are super smart.
