I saw the same thing only once when I started up the car and have been trying everything to get it to do it again to no avail.

Maybe I'm seeing things but I saw it too today for the first time. At least I THINK it wasn't there before. I'm unsure now...

I noticed it once on the iDrive display last week when I think I picked up the ConnectedDrive over-the-air security update.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1087229

Have not seen it since.

Correction: it appears there is a relationship from when you unlock the car and how quickly you start the car to getting the M Logo to appear on the iDrive.

I unlocked the car today and jumped right in and started up - the M Logo image appeared on the iDrive: (sorry for the crappy photo - had to react quickly).

If you wait longer then the normal warning message appears.

Correct. It is booting in the background from the moment you unlock so it has been my working theory that the quicker you get in and start the car after you unlock the more likely you are to see the boot screen.

See it all the time when you code off the warning messages

ok guys... i figured out how it comes on again. it happens to have the m3 logo appears on the HUD when

1) once u parked, shut off engine... without locking the vehicle...
2) then after 3 or 5 mins? start the engine again... then the m3 logo should appear on the HUD.

as long as u dont lock the vehicle and it 'thinks' its still the previous scene (since u didnt lock the vehicle), the logo will pop up on HUD.

hope it helps.

I had warnings coded off, so I see that each time.

Yeah, under normal starting the HUD is still booting up when the iDrive displays the M Logo. I will try Woosolow's suggestion and see if I can get a photo.

Like the elusive Bigfoot, Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, and a decent $5 hamburger I managed to snap a quick pic of this image this morning.

That's it!
This is how it happened for me. I was at a car wash in line. Turned ignition off while waiting, then I turned it on a few minutes later and I saw the logo on the HUD.
I'll try it again to see if I can repeat.
