black grills/gills question
So I have the OEM "gloss" black front grills on my M3. I know that there are black OEM side gills out there. In most descriptions, the black gills are described as "black chrome" Does anyone know if the "black chrome" side GILLS match the "gloss" black front GRILLS? Same color/shade?

In my experience, black chrome will be slightly more reflective than a gloss black. I don't think anybody would really notice, unless they got up super close and went back and forth comparing them, but for piece of mind, iND sells them in chrome, black chrome, and painted! Fitment is spot on, so give them a shot.

There are two different versions out there.
Gloss black is the traditional M performance version. For the E90/2/3 M cars bmw offered the "edition" grilles and gills. These are not gloss black, but are a black chrome. I have the grilles in my E93 non M and love it. Like stated, it's more reflective and has a more mirrored look to it. I also would describe it a smoked dark mirrored charcoal rather than a black. It truly is a "black chrome" and I prefer it because it's more unique than gloss black. That being said, I personally wouldn't want to mix edition gills with gloss black grilles. I would try to keep the theme consistent. |
