Talking Which options are a "MUST"?

Hello,

I am new to these boards, but have been into performance Japanese cars for awhile. I am going for the M3, because the GTR will be unobtainable for a few years. This will be my first venture into the world of European cars. I will be moving to Germany in January of next year, so I figured what the heck, I will give the beautiful Bimmer a whirl.

I will be ordering my US Spec M3 for pick up at the plant in Germany. I will be placing my order mid-year for pick up at the beginning of next year.

So far, I only desire one, possibly two options. I have got to have the MDCT, and am thinking of getting the Navi package. I may spring for the 19" wheels as well, depending upon the option cost, because there are some mighty fine forged Japanese wheels that I would also like to see fit on it.

What other options are a must have? I would like the maximum performance that I can have. Creature comforts are kind of for sissies in IMHO, but if they are reasonable, I may bite.

Thanks!,

Andrew

Well, the snob factor high aspect of this car is already showing it's colors. I vow not to be your typical Euro-snob with this car.

Funny thing is that these "snobs" are from the U.S.A. lol

back on topic, i think "must have" options would be Tech package, Ipod, Leather, and M-DKG/DCT if you are bold enough.

Try employing your "non Euro-snob" attitude to reading. It solves many things. Even quicker than waiting for people to respond to your repost.

Thank you very much. You post was very helpful. I did read the post that they were referring to, and it was most concerned with the I-pod/usb interface. That is very unimportant to me. MDKG/DCT is the moneymaker!

I think everyone has their own opinion on what a must have option is.
Search around the board and do your own research on what you would like.

why are you ordering a us spec car if your moving to germany? as for me, my must have options are M-drive and EDC. everything else is fluff as far as i am concerned. given how they've rolled these options up, i'll probably get the tech package.

Clearly, no options that involve reading.

No options really necessary. It means thousands of extra greenbacks in your bank account. Increased simplicity equates to increased reliability. The leanest stock M3 you can buy is also the cheapest by a long shot. And for the true hardcore weight haters, have the car painted AW and at no extra charge. There is a reason why the aviation industry has an affinity for white.

I can get a great deal on a US Spec car, and plan to return to the States someday.

I am with you on the fluff comment. Thank you for taking my post seriously and not flaming me without thought. I truly appreciate it.

Are you saying metallics weigh more than white? Like maybe 4 ounces?

I would also say the 19 inch wheels if you dont plan to get aftermarket.

A little off topic, but does anyone know if dealerships are open tomorrow on Martin Luther King day?

Unless you need winter wheels, I'd get the 19s anyhow. They are will be much more marketable than 18s to help pay for those aftermarkets.

I don't think most commercial businesses honor MLK Day--just public institutions and banks.

I just won't eat brakfast instead. I am getting white, but not for weight reasons. Actually, the $475 for metallics does lighten you wallet a little.
