Angel eyes upgrade?
I have a 2011 M3 coupe with the yellow angel eyes lighting. I
Want to change it to white light color. I checked out many websites and brands. Any bulbs better? Which to stay away from? Is access hard? DIY project? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I got mine from EAS. Pretty standard LED lights but simple white like the headlights. I had no desire to adjust the color so I did not pay up for the LUX though I've heard very good reviews.
I have large hands and found the install very difficult. I could not get the bulbs in so the next time it took my car in for an oil change I had my indy shop do it for me. The charge was minimal and it saved me a lot of cursing and skin off my knuckles! I've had them in for around six months now and love them.

My 2 cents:
I have the LED's offered by e92lighting and I have had nothing but problems with them. Yes at first they sent me a replacement for the light that burned out within 10 minutes of the initial install. I was grateful at the time but even then they somewhat blamed me for the problem. Two months later they both burned out again. Once again I was sent replacements but was sent a message stating I had not properly packaged my return items "which may have caused unknown damage." THEY FAILED BECAUSE THEY WERE BURNT AND MELTED so I highly doubt the envelope I sent them back in caused the issue. Especially considering I sent detailed pictures before I mailed them out. I have seen other post where again they attack the customer and send PM's demanding you delete or change you're post just as they did with me. Bottom of the line. They are cheap LED options and you get what you pay for. I learned my lesson. |

I noticed the newer BMW's have a very clean and bright look on their stock LEDs. Their brightness is very even and clean looking. My question is are the Lux ones stock looking? I know they're just as bright but is the lighting blurry and uneven? I know aftermarket in a housing not meant for LED won't look as good as stock which were meant to be LED but how close are they? Difficult to tell in some of the pictures but in some pictures, they don't look as clean or even...just a bright blur (lack of better words).
OP: Sorry for hijacking but it's kind of on-topic and maybe responses to this are something you'd also like to know.

Thanks for the info. I feel like the EAS brand looks great and price is right. I'd want to do the replacement myself. I'm sure there is a DIY videos on line. Wonder what a shop would charge?

Hard to say. If you have a good relationship they will do for you almost as a courtesy. I can't recall what my charged, if anything as I had my oil changed at the same time. They might have tacked $20-$30 onto the bill. If you don't have a good relationship they might just charge an hour of labor....

I know, I am an idiot! But I simply could not get the bulb seated properly to then twist and install. Eventually I gave up and paid my Indy shop the $20 to do it for me. Would have paid a full hour or more of labor, hell no!

My DTECs from E92Lighting look great BUT I have yet to drive the car since I installed them. So I don't know how well they will hold up. They are the D7 64W version. I hope they hold up good though. If not I'll be investigating the EAS brand as well.

Lux is now on to an H8 Version 5 (V5) for the adjustable color temp LED units, so the V4 is obsolete as of November 2014. Same pricing. Claims to be brighter (see Lux website).
