E92 M3 Stock Side Grill Turn Signals, LED? or not...
Got a question guys. I've been searching the internet for a straight answer and have yet to find one. I need to know if the stock turn signal lights in the side grills on E92 M3 is an incadescent bulb or an LED. I've check with both EAS and Turner Motorsports and am getting conflicting answers. EAS says they are 95% sure it is LED, Turner says they are absolutely sure it is incadescent. But the proof that Turner offers is a diagram from www.realoem.com which shows the standard 3 series side marker and references an incadescent bulb part number. They are saying that they use the same bulb. But again, the diagram shows the 3 series side marker, not M3 side grill. I've also seen a post somewhere that says that the stock light is actually a single LED. Does anyone have a straight answer and can provide any proof either way? The reason I ask is, I'm planning to go all LED all the way around and need to know if I need to spend the money to upgrade the side grill lights or not. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You know, I probably should be able to tell, but really I can't see any evidence either way. I can not see any LED modules on it at all, and the clear lense is sort of distorting what is underneath.
How can you tell that it is in fact LED? Thanks, Rich |

Well, once again, getting two different stories on here as well. So I finally broke down and removed the light and checked myself. After getting the actual light out of the housing, I can clearly see exactly 1 LED at the end. You can see it on the attached image. It is a very small clear cube on the chip board. I hooked it back up to the car while outside the housing and turned on the turn signal and I could see the clear cube lighting amber. So there you have it guys, its a single LED on the stock light.
