Upgrading Wheels from 19" 449 to 20" 451
Hey guys,
My 2014 X5 x-line came with 19" 449 wheels. I am now putting snow tires on those, and I am looking to buy a set of 20" 451 wheels for my summer driving. Right now I run 4x 255/50/19. But the 20" 451 wheels are: Front: 20x10.0, 275/40 R20 Rear: 20x11.0, 315/35 R20 Will these fit my car ok? Or will I need to make any changes? Like spacers, or anything else? As I do not have the M package on my car, the area around the wheel arches is plastic instead of sprayed. And it doesn't stick out like on the M cars. Hope this is OK? We have X-Lines with larger wheels/rims. You'll be perfectly fine since that is "stock diameter." All F15s have the same wheel well so no reason for you to worry.
The wheels arches ($123 each) are not necessary, but they add them to cars with 20" wheels or above in order to "protect" their paint if something flies up like mud etc. I can assure you even with my non-flared wheel arches (like yours), larger wheels do not impact that area at all. I believe once people start using spacers and really start pushing the width of the rear, that's where these arches may become beneficial.

Hello forum, Opasha, did you install flares after you changed the wheels? I noticed that after I changed my wheels (19" luxury package) to non staggered 19" m sport, the new ones do stick out further. I do not have flares. By the way, are running boards helping?

Maybe it would look good with fitting those out-sticking wheel arches too, my thinking. Wondering if they are difficult to exchange... But I am not currently sure if I will do this or not. Here, this wheel set is probably so expensive, that it could be worth awaiting and include them in a pack with a brand new car. I haven't checked yet -but when configuring a new car online - this complete 20" 451 setup can be added for about usd1900 only. And I just know that if buying them separately, this price can probably be multiplied XX times... Thanks and post some images if you finally go for this idea. Bent |

I do not have the flared wheel arches. They cost $123 each. To me they were not worth upgrading to. I am actually happy with the flat arches. My wheels being 22x10 offset 40 non-staggered don't stick out of the wheel well.
