You should follow your own car once from behind

Picked up wife's Macan S two days ago.
On the way home, I asked her to drive my manual M4 and I followed behind her just to see and hear the car from a third person perspective.

Man, it looks so much more sexier in motion than stationary and more importantly, sounds so much better than as if you are sitting inside the cabin, even idling at traffic light. I yelled 'damn' and 'fxxx' more than 20 times on my way home that day especially when I asked her to rev all the way to 6k rpm in 2nd gear(that's already too much for her to handle my M2 mode, sport+, DSC off) and quickly let go off it.

I may be silly, but I really wish Active Sound pumps sound from exhaust tip rather than engine. Whenever I want to enjoy the sound of my M4, I have to wind the window down with A/C on, mute music and put it in sport+ mode(I'm pretty sure it sounds not as aggressive in sport than sport+).

Suggest this to anyone sane (not a car person). That should give you the good meds.

I have not done this, I just wanted to experience the power of my friends ten year old Volvo while going into the same direction.

Will definitely try that as well. Problem is, I don't know how to stay behind her close enough to listen... her car is a FIAT Uno.

Has anyone figured out how to turn the active sound off yet?

I do this for my dad all the time so he can see his Z06 and hear it drive by. It's tons of fun.

Heck even when he's in my E93 I am like damn my car looks good! Everyone should do this with their car at some point. It offers great perspective!

It must sound good from outside the car. A bunch of times at the track I've had guys come up to me to tell me how awesome the car sounds listening to it going around the track.

Just this past Monday I saw a F80 exactly like mines and I followed him for a little bit and my god that sure does looks good. Then I went besides him and threw him a peace sign and he followed me. We were both admiring our own cars. While I was in front of him I kept looking at my rear view mirror just to see the front end in motion. It look so aggressive and beefy especially with the led headlights.

I had to valet against my better judgement recently and I just sat there stared at it while it was driving away as long as I could. Even jumped in front of other cars pulling in so that I could see it longer.

Dear M, are you feeling okay? I gave spotted you letting loose this week two times already. I'm worried about you, our cranky dude!

Take it was, laughter causes awful things like wrinkles and happiness and above all, following people from the front.

I agree with you completely! Seeing your own car driving is always an experience, one that non car people will never understand

just did this same thing yesterday... i rarely let my better half drive the car because i cant stand being without it but i thought it was time that i see it in action... very sexy and sounds lovely.. I even caught a few people taking pictures of it that i normally wont see when actually driving the car.

Holy cow Aussie, this post is dejavu for me.
Went to pick up a Macan Turbo with the wife at the beginning of December, and I drove the Macan just so I could see the car in motion from different angles.

She sure is purrrrrrty (the wife of course, in case she is reading this)!

I know what you mean. Have followed behind my wife in her F80 while in mine and it is like the best of both worlds: seeing and experiencing at the same time

wait, so two users here went to the dealer with their wives, to pick up cars for their wives, and want to convince us that they wanted to see their Ms from behind instead of being first to drive their wives new cars home?
