DCT shifts automatically at redline?

Gents. My search didn't seem to pick anything up!

When setting the cars transmission up for either D1, D2, D3 / S1, S2, S3 etc am I right in thinking the car will up shift on its own at redline?

Reason I ask is because I'm at run in (so no redline for me yet) but the dealer demo I used when I hit the M1 button didn't change up on its own. The car only shifted when using the paddles????

In the D modes, it will shift up. In the S modes, it will not.

The car will downshift on its own in both S and D modes.

And to add more confusion...
Will DCT upshift automatically at redline in S mode if you use launch control and keep the pedal past the kickdown like the E9X?

When I was driving the test car, I forgot I was in "manual", and pinged the tach in first gear. Incredibly embarrassing but also reassuring. The DCT is awesome in this thing.

Had that unfortunate experience in I think 4th gear on the front straight at Lime Rock Park. It took me a second to wrap my head around the sudden loss of power.
