Finally opened hood.

I've had my M3 since October 5, 2014 and I finally opened my hood. LOL. I was really worried because of all the complaints about not being able to close it properly. Slamming it and causing the hood to bend were all unfounded. It is a glorious sight.

After owning an S65 E92 M3, opening my M4 hood is always a disappointment. The CF is pretty, though.

Does anybody do routine cleaning under there?

When I remember, I wipe exposed surfaces down with a damp cloth. Others?

It is a little disappointing coming from the E92 but still does look good with the carbon fiber

Always try and keep it clean underneath usually every other wash or every 3rd wash I'll try and wipe it down to avoid it turning into a mess haven't been now that winter's here in the northeast though

When I opened my hood first time, I was very disappointed how the dealer prepped the delivery, and left super thick residue on the CF brace in the engine bay. I had to clean it with Goo Gone..

Probably cosmoline residue (rust preventer)...inevitably some of it is left on the vehicle. I had the PCD, and they are known for their well done prep before delivery, and there was some residual material from the factory.

None of that crap with ED prep. I'll have to say it looks better than my E90 under the hood.

What is the proper way to close the hood? Is there a procedure from BMW? ... this is coming from a guy with both a F30 and F82.

On the F30 I just drop the hood from about 18" and it usually closes. For the F82 I gently close it and then push down with two palms.

Better be careful. The hood dents easily, and you might leave a nice palm sized depression if you push in the wrong spot.

For fucks sake, what are you, superman?

To answer, don't use a sledge hammer or wah to close your hood, you'll be fine Steve B!

... How the hell can you manage to dent a car by closing a hood wah, you're telling me that later. And btw, thanks for the football info, it ruined my night.

Zackly -- I've opened and closed the hood numerous times. Don't be an idiot, and you won't dent it.

I'll bet money the dent in this hood is from pushing down on it. I accidentally did the same thing to the NY Auto Show car, but luckily, it popped back out when I pulled my hand away. And yes, the ladies tell me I am superman, but that's another story for another time.
