Do you guys go to dealers?

I bought mine third hand (i guess?) from Honda so i dont have rapport with any BMW dealership.

mines 2013 so i still have and would like to use the BMW warranty, but i dont want to get ripped off nor do i want to get a bad service.

so i ask this of you guys, where do you go for service?

EDIT:
Maybe this is what i meant to ask

What is your favorite dealership and service agent from the bay area?

hopefully thats more clear and we can answer more in line with that

Its recommended to go to the dealer as long as the car is under warranty/has a service contract. After that its up to you, Im out of warranty and use a local indy shop for the reasons you are worried about. EG for me was tires. The dealer wanted 800 more than Kauffman tire for 4 pilot super sports! They also wanted 400 for an oil change vs $100-150. You can get things like this done far more inexpensively outside the dealer.

Yea I hear you. I always worry that they'll somehow rip me off on my free warranty and maintence on my 2013 also so I just pay my gardeners to do my oil changes or I fix everything with my bare hands in my apt garage.

You are still under warranty, you have no reason not to go to the dealer!

for your 2013, b/c it's still under the free maintenance plan, you should service it at the dealership, b/c it's free.

Just find a good service advisor. That's the most important part. Other things to consider are proximity, how far their shuttle take you to work or home, how easy is it to secure a loaner car, cleanliness etc.

I put a premium on quick communcation as to car servicing status, making good on promises that routine services are done by the time they say they will be done. etc.

My local dealership is awesome. They are very customer focused and have very reasonable prices. I plan on getting my scheduled maintenance done at the dealer and if something else comes up i will shop around with a few local specialty shops.

My dealer, up here in Maine, is terrible. Never liked them on any of my BMWs. Using them til the warranty is up, then will work on it myself. I do my oil changes/other fluids so far myself anyway

I do the work myself now, in my own garage, under plenty of UV lighting to light up the engine bay and such.

When all else fails, 1moremod is my personal pharmacist.
