Too bad the newer cars are feeling a bit more mainstream. You've gotta water down some stuff to broaden your audience. Can't fault them for making money, but I'm glad you can still get the old models. Oh, and the M235i - it still feels pretty classic. Subaru did the same thing. Not as quirky any more, but selling like hotcakes...

I agree. Getting a bmw these days doesn't mean as much as it used to.

I agree but not because BMWs have gotten worse, but that the competition has gotten better. Mercedes and Audi offer real competition at all levels, and even the Americans have finally improved (though the cheap interiors still hurt).

I agree with you as well. I said that because nowadays, anyone can afford a bmw. Hell, my sister got a FULLY equipped 428xi lease for 430 a month. My old 328xi Coupe NOT fully equipped was 550 a month with same lease terms.

Mercedes has deff stepped up their game. Their cars look amazing and I'd deff consider one for my next car.

No BMW has gotten worse. too many models, too many m badges. I'm over BMW as a brand.

I agree with you. I love my M3 and I may hold on to it long term but I am almost sure that my next car will be something else.....I'm just not feeling the models as much I like the 911 991S, corvette singray, or maybe an AMG of some kind

I went that way and bought a 911 turbo. Not brand new, but a 996 chassis/model as they are a bargain right now and as other Pcars are doing, they will most likely start to creep up in value or at least remain very stable as the market has bottomed out for sure.

Yes, I remember when Porsche angered me by making the Cayenne and now the Panamera, etc....

But BMW is pretty bad, M badges everywhere, grand coupes, etc, etc, etc.

Makes the M brand lose its luster.

I don't know about not getting "worse". Perhaps not in an objective sense of the cars themselves since technology and progress march on, but I liked BMW a tad more when it was a niche company that built elegant street cars with excellent driving dynamics, as opposed to dozens of generic commuters of varying sizes, with entry level models to entry level models with entry level M trim levels and 10 different SUVs and a car with 4 doors and for a price with two doors and for another price those two doors back and a hatch for good measure, oh and did you check out the new 0.5 series? It is going to be an entry BMW for people that can't afford the 1 series. Me, I'm starting humble with the 0.1 series before I work my way up to the 0.25 (the entry level car for folks that can't swing the 0.5)... it's a bicycle with a 2-gear electric motor duct-taped to it. It has 47 M badges and the spokes are red because racebike! The new BMW is basically VW, except everything can get carbon fiber accessories.

Or maybe I'm just falling into the hipster trap... "I was driving BMWs before it was cool to drive BMWs".

I've had my E92 for 6mo now...it's starting to bore me. It's a fantastic handling car but doesn't have much of a punch. I'm thinking of pickup up a hellcat or hold out for the next GT500

The new M4 does nothing for me.

I concur my next car will either be 991 Carrera S or either Audi R8. This new era of BMW has really put a bad taste in my mouth.

I bought my M3 as it seemed to be the last of the special engines. Sure seems that way now. Happy to see Ford roll out the GT350 - but I can't drive a car to the office with racing stripes looking like a child's toy. BMW 328 wagon w 6 speed maybe nice as a winter car but nothing exciting these days.
Even F1 cars are boring these days (slow down Lewis - you need to save fuel)

I cant swing an Audi R8 just yet. But I watching them closely to see how far they will depreciate.

Are people more interested in the cars or feeling special because you own one?

",,,,because nowadays, anyone can afford a bmw."

Great, their nice cars. If everyone could afford a lambo I'd get one too.

"BMW 328 wagon w 6 speed maybe nice as a winter car but nothing exciting these days"

Was it ever? A wagon, exciting? For that matter is any x28i exciting?

"Getting a bmw these days doesn't mean as much as it used to"

If status is your thing I guess that means something to you.......

None of your comments made any sense. Congrats.
BTW-I had a 328xi and loved it. What makes things more interesting is that you currently drive a 428..

More interesting? Than what? I never said a 428 was exciting. Frankly, it's not, nor is any othe x28 exciting to me. So you love yours, great! To each his own. I drive the 428 as a DD and got it to save some gas.

I also have a 2011 M3......
