high mileage e9x M3 ownership
I'm thinking to get 08,09 used e90 M3.I found few available with around 90000km(almost 60000miles) at my area.just wondering beside regular maintenance, what kind of potential problem should I consider?or if I get this high mileage car is just get a trouble to myself?
I really love this generation m3 coz with V8 engine.....engine/exhaust sound is amazing.

It's been too soon for anything to break yet but I feel great about the 08 I just purchased a few weeks ago. It has 61k miles. I was also looking at another 08 with 46k miles but the higher mileage car was in better condition overall and unmodified (except for body-colored reflectors)

i think with the recent 6-7 yrs, it is safe to say that the S65 is defeintely known to be the most reliable M engine so far produced by M division.
proper maintenance will keep this engine healthy for a long time

First and foremost, make sure you source a solid BMW specialist.
Second, Clearly you guys aren't reading the bearing issue threads laying around here. Fortunately, the milage, year, or body style isn't making a difference. At the end I feel like its a crap shoot... just make sure you buy a reputable extended warranty. I just had my engine replaced and the bill was around $25K! Thank got for warranty

An extended warranty won't always save you if you have a catastrophic failure. There have already been documented cases of denial.

I never own a car more than 10k kms b4,and I did replaced cylinder head gasket, oil housing gasket, water pump, thermostat, trust arm bushing, shift shaft seal on my e90 325i around 11k kms.so I assumed more than 10k kms is kind of high mileage.

Yes, if things do go wrong, it's expensive, but generically speaking, regular maintenance is the same.

I'm in the same boat as OP--looking at an unmodded '08 w/65K; I'd be the 3rd owner.
When getting the PPI, any other obvious things to have the mechanic look for aside from the infamous rod bearing issue? Worth it to wait it out to find a 1 owner car? |
