What is this?
Guys,
I ordered almost every available option (everything but CCB and Concierge) on my F82 and was looking at the interior where the lights are yesterday and noticed a couple button blanks that look like they should have some ability? Is there something that I missed in ordering or something that US cars don't get as an option? (the 2 empty spaces to the left of the light dial) Thanks! |

I believe that the bottom button is functional for the rear fogs. It can be coded to work. There is a DIY for it somewhere. I'm too hungover to search for the link..

I'm curious about the lane assist feature... Do you still retain the little compartment where those buttons are?

Nope. If you have the driver's assist package, the little compartment underneath the light switch is consumed with those electronics on both the F30 and the F80.

The most stupid, are people who drive around with their extremely bright, single, rear fog light on all of the time. WTF?

It seems like most Americans feel a need to drive with their foglights (front and rear) on constantly. People simply don't understand how to drive in this country.

They are not stupid if use in the right context. I was in Italy and the weather was so bad that you could hardly see 10 ft in front of you and the only part of the car you can see in front of you were the rear fog lights. Everyone either had them on or flashing hazard lights or both. It was needed.

Agree with Tacoma - it depends on circumstances. I'm originally from the UK and there have been many occasions I have been in where fog lights were absolutely essential. Standard rear lights are not bright enough in thick fog. People just need to remember to switch them off. In the rain at night they can be blinding.

I'll take your word for it. No, I'll do one better: if I ever rear end someone in the fog who didn't have a rear fog light on, I'll eat my own fingernail clippings.

What's funny is my wife's MB (GL 350) has a "rear fog lights" button. I've hit that thing several times but have never noticed a damn difference. Now I know I've got some bright ass rogue tail light annoying the person behind me!
