Question POLL: DCT, Mostly Manual or Auto?

Just wondering how DCT owners mostly drive their cars ...

To pre-empt the MT guys:
"DCT Sucks! HA ha"
"Best way to drive a DCT is get a 6MT - W00t!"
"Real enthusiasts drive a 6MT! Get it? I'm super hardcore!"

Granted I don't have my manual m4 yet, but my current DCT e90 is strictly driven in manual mode.

Thanks Gruss. Only change I would have made is to make the poll public, but it'll be ok.

I don't have my DCT M4 yet, but I think I would drive in D in the city, or in bad weather conditions, and in S mode any other time.
Which would end up being 50-50.

Nice poll GrussGott - especially since it was your first time (I've never created any polls - so you're ahead of me)!

Manual mode in my opinion is much more fun. I just like automatic mode for: 1) heavy rush hour traffic; 2) talking on phone in car; 3) drinking coffee; and, one of the most frequent reasons given on this forum - 4) EATING A CHEESEBURGER - YEAH BABY....

Interesting... I dunno why but I've never felt comfortable with driving the car auto - the engine doesn't sound right or something

I ordered my F80 M3 in 6MT, but when I had my E90/92/93 M3 all DCT and all have been driven strictly manual mode!

I voted 100% manual because is it the closest to what I do in the options offered. In reality, it is probably 95% manual 5% automatic. The car with DCT is so much more engaging when using manual mode. I have only owned MT cars before getting into my DCT E92 and much rather be the one deciding which gear is to be used. The only occasion I use D mode is in very heavy traffic or if I need to fiddle with the iDrive.

I don't have DCT anymore, but when I did, it was in manual all the time. I think in two years with the car I may have driven in 'D' for 2 hours. Engaging it was infrequent and short lived. As much as I like driving a manual transmission, I think there's better than 50% chance my next car will be DCT again.

Is there a poll for everyone's favorite/most used driving settings? As in eco/sport/sport+ for throttle response, DCT, suspension and steering? Kind of interested in the stats.

I drove Dct in manual mode 99% of the time. It was only engaging for me because I was constantly looking at the screen to figure out what gear I was in. Mt there's never any doubt. Mt gets my vote

Interesting ... I drive either DCT or MT by sound and feel of the throttle so I doubt I could ever tell you exactly what gear I'm in ... I could guess but the number really doesn't matter for my style (stay in the power!). This is probably the key reason I drive the DCT manually ... the constant upshifting in auto drives me nuts. My wife drives it that way and I can't stand to listen to it - good thing that hardly ever happens

I don't think I've ever looked at the gear number of any car I've ever driven - didn't even know the E9x had that feature!

You should have made it so you can see the members who voted so we can request bans for anyone voting that they drive in auto mode more than 50% of the time

About 90% manual. I'd use paddle shifts about 75% of the time and the stick for the rest.

My e92 was DCT. I drove 90% "manual" mode for the first few months but eventually just got bored and drove around in auto 90% of the time.

Wow, combining the last three choices gets ~50% vs ~30% for 100% manual... That actually seems pretty accurate based on my read of posts.
