AutoWeek: Long Term F80 M3
EDIT: 1/18/2015 First follow up report (update) added for 7,140 miles
Just got my latest issue of AdWe...err...AutoWeek and they have picked up an F80 M3 for long term testing. They optioned the heck out of it so the price is already on their list of complaints. Long Term Start Article: EDIT: 1st Update report 7,140 miles: What stands out to me are: These complaints: abrupt throttle tip-in (are they rolling around in sport-plus all the time?), drive line lash, stiff suspension (no shit...what did they expect), "smooth getaways from a stop are sometimes challenging" (driver error??? or is this a known DCT thing?), These praises: mpg 21 avg (this jibes with what my wife and I are averaging on mixed driving in our F80s), YMB color attention (I've noticed the same thing...lots of stares and compliments), best brakes and steering on a road car by any manufacturer (odd because most reviewers have been complaining about the steering...personally it feels just right to me) Last edited by Accel Junky; 01-18-2015 at 10:29 AM.. |

Getting tired of hack writing when it comes to price (for any car, not just BMW). When you put CCB's on this car the price skyrockets. CCB's are nice but add almost nothing unless you track it. Also their price compared to other CCB's is in line or cheaper than almost every other manufacturer.
If you want to say a fully optioned M3/M4 gets pricey then fine. If you want to complain about how the options are packaged, that's fair game also. Just don't make a lazy complaint about the price when you tick off almost every single option. Rant over |

Everyone else is commenting on the article, and I'm staring at the picture wondering if I should have ordered the light 19s. This car will make me mad even before I get it.

Pshhh, then who cares. Nobody wants to hear you complain now that its in production. Big JK
Congrats, you'll love the car as soon as you see it. Can't ever remember someone being disappointed in a wheel to where it ruins the car. Also that's an easy fix with aftermarket or straight up swap with someone who wants the black wheels. |

3.9s to 60 with the "excellent launch control system".
First time I've seen it referred to as excellent and yielding such low times to 60 and quarter mile. For you who has it, should be worth fiddling with launch rpms since it's obviously very capable when used optimally. |
